      Dream Journal in dreams

Since starting a dream journal about a month ago, it has regularly featured in my dreams. Was wondering people's thoughts on this and if this means I am close to being able to lucid dream more often.

Numerous occasions I have dreamt I was writing in my dream journal, dream would be so vivid that when I woke up I genuinely didn't know if I had written in it that night already, would have to check after waking.

Weirdest one was at the end of a dream I was back in my room, writing in my dream journal while watching the earlier dream replay on my TV, very strange.

      Thoughts?

Almost all my dreams are realistic situations and correspond to things I've thought about in the days beforehand, so I think the appearance of a dream journal in your dreams is simply down to the fact that you're thinking about it during the day.

If it is indeed occurring regularly in your dreams, perhaps it could be used as a dream sign, i.e. when you realise you're writing in your dream journal, take a second to ask yourself whether you're dreaming or not. Doing this will no doubt lead to a lucid soon.

Our big human brain assimilates the previous days memories during sleep and dreams. This is why Reality Checks work sometimes. So, in dreams anyhoo, the symbols you see correspond to an active memory. This is why some people have nightmares after watching a scary movie.

Make it a habit of doing a RC every time you wake or write in your Dream Journal.

I have had several lucid dreams where my dream journal helped me recognize that I was dreaming. All were false awakenings. In one, I grabbed my journal to jot down what I remembered from my last dream but noticed that there was no date at the top of the page (I'm very picky about dating the pages before going to sleep). Another time, the journal was completely full with no blank pages when I clearly remembered starting a new one a few days earlier. There was even one where I reached for my dream journal and found it on the floor, but the flooring had had changed from carpeting to tile, triggering me to realize that I was dreaming.
