      Lucid Dreaming after Coffee ?!

Hello, I've been interested in learning to lucid dream since January. I succeeded a few times, but in my opinion I was just lucky. However, today something strange happened: I drank a big cup of strong coffee and then I went to bed. It was 1:00 PM here, but I just wanted to sleep. I experienced the most lucid dreaming ever !
      What's your opinion ?

Coffee has helped me a few times. But sometimes it just keeps me awake. I think it depends on how much coffee and how tired you are. But yes, coffee or any caffeine can definitely help! If I don't get lucid I still have greater recall. I wouldn't use any lucid aid very often though.

Coffee or anything with caffeine can help, because it will make you more aware. But if you not used to it, it may keep you awake. I guess some experimenting is in order.

You will have better success if you believe in your ability to lucid dream. So I believe, you didn't just get lucky. I think you are good at it and with little practice you can have LDs often. Now it's your turn to believe in yourself. Have you checked out some tutorials? Happy dreams

I used to drink a lot of caffeine in the form of sodas. I got tired of it after a while. That was years ago.

Now if I drink a soda at night I become sleepy and typically drift off easier. It's similar to using ritalin for hyper kids.

The extra stimulation on your circulatory system can make you sleepy, and the effects on your metabolic processes will enhance your dreams and likely your chances to lucid dream.

Just don't do it daily. It's rough on the system.

Coffee and tea can help most definitely! If coffee starts to work you up too much though, a mild tea can still do the trick without getting you wired. I know it's contrary to the subject of this thread, but calming teas can also help with lucid dreams in preparing your mind for focusing.

How often should i then take coffee before going to sleep, because i have been drinking coffee quite a lot (2-5 cups per day) for about eight years? Does one cup more before going to sleep even help then?

Try this: start a morning with only one cup of coffee. don't drink coffee all day. and then drink a quick cup during WBTB. try to WILD.

YES! I had the most vivid dream last night after about 5 refills of Pepsi... I hung on the edge of sleep for the longest time, and actually was completely aware of the vibrations corresponding to sleep paralysis (at 3 A.M., no naps). Cool stuff, just don't overdo it. It's hard to sleep when your heart rate is hovering around 110 BPM...

Never really helped me that much when it comes to turning lucid, but I do always find that alcohol and coffee made things a touch more vivid, they also let your mind wander a bit, so things tend to get a little more crazy.

Like Gab said, it would help increase your awareness which helps you get lucid. If you can drink it and still fall asleep, go for it! See if the results are consistent. The problem with coffee for most people is that they cant fall asleep after they drink it but if you can, that's great!
