I've been practicing for about a week now and can not enter a dream i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, I have laid still with my hands at my side with eyes shut as well as keeping still. Is there anything else that i have missed out?
I am also very sorry that this thread is short i'm just getting pretty frustrated.
Gotta practice for more than a week man. Determination and persistence are key here.
I've been practicing for months now, and I'm taking my time. If you want it, you gotta work for it.
In my case, it's a bit different because I don't want it. I just enjoy having dreams and remembering them. I find satisfaction there. If you try hard and get frustrated after a week... Well, to be honest you will never lucid dream unless you have patience.
Why do people post about their failure when it's only been a week? Most of the guides on this forum tell you to stick with your current program (DILD or WILD) for atleast 3 months
It usually takes a while before you can start lucid dreaming. It's not an easy process. Don't give up, though. It's not impossible, and it will happen eventually :)
What you want to do mate is practice being relaxed, and that's something you don't want to force; like breathing. Techniques didn't work for me, so I practised meditation and that's where the lucid dreams came pouring in. Why? Because at heart, lucid dreaming is about where your awareness lies and when, and when you relax thoroughly you give yourself time to work with your subconscious and all techniques use this to their advantage. Frustration leads to anxiety, and what happens when you get anxious over something for a prolonged amount of time is that your brain will record that something and eventually begin use it against you when you're feeling positive about giving lucid dreaming another go, so it's important that you stay relaxed and content with your approach.Quote:

I had my first within a week of learning :) But I literally spent all of my time studying. I'd suggest starting out with DILD. The method you are doing is called WILD, one of the more advanced techniques. So start off with DILD until you learn more about Lucid Dreaming in general.

I'm glad you already found the info in the WIKI. It really helps. Personally I find WBTB works for me with DILD and WILD.
Like so many said, give yourself time. A good lucid dream can happen tonight or may take some time. I find, both from personal experience and the posts of others, the more you read and research dreaming the more your brain focuses on it and the subject becomes important to you. This alone will aid your efforts to have a lucid dream.

I had my first LD only after 3 months if trying.. And you are propably doing WILD method wrong. Are you keeping your mind active (Counting your breaths, for example)? When you are fully relaxed, do you move in your regural sleep position to start dreaming?
Find what works for you. Take all advise (even mine) with a grain of salt. What works for one person will not necessarily work for you. I use visualization at bedtime. It works for me. The path you find yourself on will lead to lucid dreams but absolute belief in anything will completely screw you up. It is very subjective.. but it (lucid dreaming) is also very real. Sometimes wanting something so much can be a great obstacle in itself.
Exactly what sort of approach are/were you using? I think newbies tend to find DILD-based approaches a bit easier.
:D Hey...it takes longer than a week to get a lucid dream for most people! Just keep it up. The time you WILD also affects your success. I recommend waking up after 4-6 hours of sleep to try to WILD. If you are trying it before you go to bed...I do not recommend it. If you have any questions, just send a PM. Don't give up after just a week!
