Is this possible ?
Is it possible to be in a dream that will according to my perception last for hours, days, or years ?. I want to experience long periods of time in a dream. After reading the short story "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" by Ambrose Bierce I hatched the idea to take a "dream vacation" . Once a person is Lucid is it possible for that person to determine the duration of their dream ? Is it possible to create any environment you desire when lucid ?
The idea of a dream vacation where I'd be able to take a break from it all is one of the reasons I've decided to start learning to dream lucidly. Not only that but I want to try something new out !
And more importantly how ?
How would someone make a dream last for as long as they wanted ?

I heard stories about people having a long lucid dream, even though they didn't sleep that long.. I'm pretty sure that u can make ur lucid dream seem longer, but to say days, months and years? I'm quite skeptical about that, but who knows? But like 5-15 minutes longer, i don't see why that shouldn't be possible.

I've had a lucid dream before that was about and hour long, but it's just impossible for it to be days long. But you're other question about changing the enviroment, yes, you can change anything you want in your dream.

Actually, it is 100% possible to have a dream that you perceive as being days or weeks long. I had a dream that seemed to last three days and two nights, but I could only remember enough highlights of those days to fit into about an hour of total time. You can really only dream as long as your REM cycle lasts, but you may skip around in time(for example, taking 5 seconds to walk a mile) and feel like you've been dreaming for days. Personally, I haven't been lucid enough grasp time perception while dreaming yet either. It's a bit complicated.

Hello, I'm guessing you're talking about time dilation in a dream? As the name itself states, it's when you bend/control/dilate time in a dream to make it seem longer. I haven't found any articles explaining it clearly though, as it is still a matter of debate and discussion.
I found this though, if you wanna read it: http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/stephe...7/#post1844147
Aaaaand this post, which is apparently a tutorial on how to time dilate: http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/my-tut...ml#post1399179
Good luck and good day! :D

I believe lucid dream time is equivalent to real world time so unless you are planning to b lucid in a coma I do not see any possibility of a day long lucid dream. Of course, I could be wrong (but I don't think so) :shadewink:

I reckon it could be done, something like the time dilation talked about above.
I know that my only lucid dream so far felt like at least an hour, if not more, however when I woke up I worked out I had only been dreaming for 10-15 minutes. So time dilated on a small scale, it makes sense that it could be done a longer one. Not sure how it would feel though, would you really want to spend what you perceive as days or longer in a dream state? I imagine it would fuck with your mind a bit after waking!
