Am I getting close?
First off, lemme ask if I am doing this correctly.
I go to bed, lay down on my back, keep my eyes shut and don't move. I then STARE into the darkness in my eyelids. I then count in my head with each deep breath "1, I am Lucid Dreaming" etc. While doing that, I then get the URGE the dying urge to roll over and just go to sleep cause it's taking to long or something. I can never ignore the urge, I always give in.
If I ignore the urge, do I then start getting tingly feelings and what not? I'm confused.

If you ignore the urge to roll over and go to sleep there is no guarantee you will experience anything.
I say there is no guarantee...but you also have the possibility of experiencing the tingly sensations and more. You'll never know until you try.
The most important thing is that you get quality rest. Do not sacrifice sleep to achieve this. Rest is important.
As for the technique, yes, it sounds like you are doing fine. Lie down in bed, close your eyes, count with a mantra. This may lead you to WILD or MILD.
