Is extreme Numbness Common With DEILD?

So im pretty good at waking up after a dream. This usually happens after i fall back asleep after my WBTB because i can remember my dreams better so im ready for it. But whenever I wake up and start visualizing where i left off. My arm gets so uncomfortably numb that its hard to not concentrate on. I only almost had a successful DEILD before because i reached the vibrations, and auditory hallucinations but i havent been close since. Is this numbness normal and should i just wait it out for sleep paralysis to set in? I know DEILDs happen quick but whenever i wake up i can just sit there more minutes with nothing happening.

Sleep Schedule
12:00-1:00 - Fall Asleep
4:00-5:00 - WBTB and failed WILD attempt
6:00 - forgot to stay still, failed DEILD
7:00 - Wake Up still for DEILD, failed
8:00 - wake up still again for deild failed again
9:00 - wake up and fail deild again.

I've had numbness before, could be a symptom of sleep paralysis or it could just be where you've laid on it for so long that it's literally just gone numb. The best thing to do is focus all your attention on visualisation, it takes practice, but it's definitely possible to not notice your body.

Though, don't try to force yourself to not notice it. The more you force it, the more you will notice it. If I told you to not think of a pink elephant, you'd do precisely the opposite because you're trying not to think of a pink elephant. You need to take a meditative standpoint and realise it, let it pass and then redirect your attention on your visualisation.

im gonna try to reposition my arm in a different manner. I dont understand how people say DEILD's are so easy, all you have to do is wait a few moments and youll be in a dream? Is this the same concept of WILD where your goal is to fall back asleep? Or is the only thing you have to do is just not move and visualize?

It's perfectly fine to move a bit during a DEILD attempt, as long as you don't put too much thought on the movement itself, you need to move mindlessly.

DEILDs are easy, once everything falls into place. The mental preparation part is slightly harder. It's more than simply laying there after waking up, you still need to keep the attention of your mind there while you drift back into dream world. And yes, you do fall back asleep during DEILDs, after all, DEILD is just a fancy name for a WILD immediately after waking up from a dream.

I'd recommend an anchor, I use a fan personally. When you wake up you can focus your attention on your anchor and visualise while you fade through back into the dream world. A lot of people also focus on heartbeat or breath. Also make sure you notice the hypnagogic imagery behind your eyelids, focus on all the colours and shapes forming and as you visualise, watch them morph into more solid objects from the scene that you're visualising. Soon enough you should be able to walk into the scene and be inside a dream, lucid.

One other method I've used before is simply counting. Waking up, counting down from 20 with each breath and focusing your intention that when you reach 0 and open your eyes, you will be opening your eyes inside your dream. This helps combat the issue of people continuing to lay there attempting to enter a lucid dream when in actual fact, you're already inside a dream and trying to DEILD from within it! It's very common for DEILDs to start from within your bed, even if you are visualising.

Alright, i think i got a way to approach this better.
The night i attempted a DEILD and basically failed because i was scared of Sleep paralysis happening. I did a WBTB. Woke up around 330-4 in the morning. I had an alarm set for 6 o clock. That alarm woke me up and went back to sleep. I remember my dream perfectly and woke up from it around 6:50, thats when i attempted DEILD and got to the early stages of sleep paralysis. I was just too startled because i wasnt expecting it. Also i think im too awake. If i fail the first couple of attempts and go back asleep and try it again, im only waking myself up more and more. So i really gotta focus on getting it on the first try
