Hey ive been trying to LD For 2 Years now and to no luck!
Ive been trying on and off but ive only been rewarded with one Semi LD and some Hypnogogic Imagery(Not sure if thats how you spell it) now im at it again, I really want to LD Its just so cool, Can anyone help?
Well, just think to yourself what you can accomplish in a lucid dream that you find amazing. Maybe it's flying through space faster than the speed of light, or confronting your biggest fears. Also, how much hypnagogic imagery have you had, because whenever I close my eyes, I almost always have some pictures of things in my head. Also, I think a semi-lucid dream still counts. Try to remember your dreams more often by writing them down. You can also try something like vitamin B6. It's found in bananas and some other foods.
And don't worry! You'll have more LDs. All it takes is some motivation!

First of all, I suggest keeping up with your dream journal (I'm assuming you have one?). Also, what techniques have you been trying out? Maybe it's time to change it up a little, and try a different approach. If you've got a lot of entries in your journal, you can go through them and try to evaluate the things you did, what worked well, what didn't – so you can figure out which aspects of your attempts you should focus more on.

Also, I recommend writing up a list of your dream goals, and read it everyday, especially before bed. That can really keep you motivated AND help put you in the lucid mindset. If you want, you can join a class in the Dream Views Academy, where you can keep a workbook, track your progress, and get guidance from the teachers.

What I've realized in my years of lucid dreaming is that passive actions is the key to whatever you do.
And active action will only work against you. Like if you really want to lucid dream and have it as your absolute biggest goal and do everything you can to make it happen.
Like WBTBs every night, reality checking like crazy or write down your dreams in your journal for an hour, well then you are overdoing it. (I used to be like this).
This is for the indirect techniques like DILD and MILD.
The passive idea is to just be aware of your surroundings during the day, not forcing or judging just be in the moment and observe. Probably can be seen as Dream Yoga.
So the key to lucid dreaming is passive practise and intending. Tell yourself that you want to be aware of your dreams while going to bed, but don't get discouraged if nothing happens that night.
There is a new night tomorrow. Never look back only look forward! With passive practise I mean that you make it a daily habit to recall your dreams and evaluate what you did.
A lucid dream should not be the goal, the goal should be higher general awareness that way you will look at normal dreams as more valuable than if you would have the lucid dream goal set.
Because if your only goal is lucidity then you see your non-lucid dreams as rubbish and this should never be the case!
Our normal dreams are after all the bridge to lucid dreams. Be interested in the normal dreams and see the value in them as well.
To substantiate this mindset a little more, I recommend that you visit my Dream Journal and there is a link to Reece Jones Layers of Lucidity (Awareness is a better term.)
And even if it might not be a perfect system, I still find it good when I want to see how aware I was.
Also keep in mind that the more you remember of your dreams upon awakening, the more aware you were in them.
Example:
(The more you remember from a night out drinking, the more sober you were)
So keep a dream journal and be interested in awareness and dreams in general, then lucidity will come by itself.
This is the passive way for DILD, when it comes to WILD I am still experimenting and I have found that the passive way has to do with Meditation and Yoga Nidra.

A good way to get your motivation back up is to think about all of the things you could be doing if you finally learned how to lucid dream. Stand outside and imagine how amazing it would feel to jump into the sky and begin a journey of endless possibilities.
I actually find the opposite to be true; I enjoy my normal dreams so much that it makes getting lucid almost less important to me since I will be having a good time anyway. However I think that even though it is a reverse scenario, it shares the same solution. If I focus on awareness, it will increase my chances for lucidity while making my normal dreams better. I think that will work for me since it is a win win situation and I wont feel like I'm giving up normal dreams.Quote:

When I say awareness I mean understanding. Lucidity is just a term of being aware of the dream, my intent was just to make people look at the big picture instead of just a part of it. Because I only focused on the lucidity when I was a beginner.
Duality VS Unity. Instead of seeing non-lucid dreams and lucid dreams I wanted to show that they are both dreams!
Don't give up, an LD could be right around the corner! Are you keeping an active daily Dream Journal? Do you remember 1 - 2+ dreams every night? Are you actively doing Reality checks throughout the day and are you saying any Mantras before you go to sleep at night? Are you expecting to have a lucid dream when you go to sleep?Quote:

@Redeemer522: thanks for the reply i usually always think about what i can be doing in LDs when i do RCs and when i go to bed. As for Vitamin B6 i have tried it, it made my dreams more vivid and easier to remember as for my DJ i try to write down as many as possible but i often dont have enough time in the morning :(.
@Paigeyemps: Like i said above yep im keeping A DJ and i try to update it as often as possible but alot of the times i have to settle on recalling my dreams as i take my shower and get ready in the morning :( Thanks for the support :D
@Mastermind: Wow lengthy post, Thanks for the time you put into it and again sorry about the time it took to get back, I think i understand what your saying about the passive actions and think i would like to learn more would you be up to teaching me about it?

@Shooshtime: DJ and Recall are inconsistent i really have to work on that, I do do my RCs during the day they consist of Looking at my hands making sure they're normal. I look at them count my fingers examine them, then i try to push my finger through the palm of my hand after that i look around ask how i got here, is there anything weird going on, am i dreaming or not. Then i will do a little mantra "I will realize i'm dreaming and remember it." Five times.
Also i did have my first LD this week, it lasted 5 seconds i was in a dream and was suddenly not able to walk through the air infront of me, after checking it out there was a giant bubble in front of me and i just realised i was dreaming no RC or anything then as luck would have it my alarm clock off!
I think what i really need to work on is my DJ and recall also im not sure about my RC if anyone could recommend anything better i would appreciate it :)

Teaching is what I am for ;) Just send a PM or write a thread if you wonder anything.
But what I think most important is that you don't actively do lots of stuff to get aware. You are awareness and you shouldn't have to relay on too many method and tools to be what you are.
I used to do that, but as I soon as I stopped using some tool I realized that I was relaying on the routines and not my self.
I convinced myself for example that if I drink lots of water I would wake up in the middle of the ngiht. Sure it did work because of the urge to get to the bathroom, but some of the awakenings I didn't had the urge! I wondered how that could be, so the next night I tried to just "pretend" that I drinked the water and the intention alone was enough for me to notice my awakenings.
(I have continued doing this and now I can sometimes even choose an exact time of when I want to wake up! Try it!)
So try to find the main factor in all the methods and go with it, you don't need lots of steps to WILD actually you only need one step.
Meditation: Become unaware of the mind and the body and just be.
And even if you mark out the steps. 1. Relaxation 2. Hypnagogic Imagery 3. Random Images 4. Flashing Patterns 5. Small Vibrations 6. Voidness 7. Heavy Vibration 8. Floating Sensations
You still need Meditation or a meditative state to achieve all of them and it's easy to fall into the trap of ACTIVELY focusing on each step and that can make you succeed but by using meditation together it will be much easier.
Same with DILD methods, reality checks, dream journal... etc. is important but if you focus on the awareness in itself which is the core to success for these steps then it will flow like water.
Look at wholes as well as parts to attain the parts and the wholes. :meditate: (pretty obvious, but easy to forget!)
