Need help finding a good method.

So, I've been practicing and studying lucid dreaming for about a good nine months. I've been switching on and off through methods because I can't seem to find the perfect one for me; and that is why I made this post.

I have kept a dream journal for the entire nine months though, but I have been through these methods : MILD, DEILD, WBTB, DILD, and some experimental methods. But something always went wrong, or they didn't work. My schedule is kind of hard to work with, and it may be hard to suggest a method, but if you could it would be great! So I do go to school, waking up at five every morning. So that takes most WBTB type of methods off of the list, and I also try my best to be dedicated during school so I can't really take times to do reality checks, (to be honest, I don't really do reality checks. I never really have except for a few exceptions.) I would like a method that doesn't take meditation, or anything similar, something I could do before I go to sleep; simple if you will. I especially liked MILD for simplicity, but some nights I forgot to repeat mantras. Thanks for any suggestions!

Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night without an alarm or anything? I always recommend FILD, and if that first part applies to you it would probably be your best bet. If not you can work on some things like autosuggestion to wake up. FILD requires no effort during the day, barely any when you actually do it, and has a high success rate. I love this technique because it is not hard, and actually gives more concrete results, in other words, you don't have to rely on chance or luck like with DILD.

How many hours do you sleep at night? How many dreams do you have on average? Do you reflect on the dreams and find common dream signs? How life like are they? How long are they?

I would say try ADA (it is hard, but seems to be really good if you stick with it). Or just stick to one technique for a few months. If you juggle too many knives you will cut yourself.

Ah, I think I've read about FILD at one point; mind refreshing me about the basics of it? And my sleeping patterns are kind of out of wack, but mostly I always get at least 6-8 hours of sleep. I usually can remember 1 or 2 dreams a night, and I write each and every one in my dream journal but I can never find common dream signs, that's why I don't really do reality checks. I have sometimes had a dream that was so vivid that I thought it was lucid, but it wasn't. I'm not really sure how long they were.

FILD stands for Finger Induced Lucid Dream. Basically, it is a form of DEILD where you would slightly move your fingers to induce SP and, ergo, the possibility of a lucid dream. I however, add visualization into the mix as I try to visualize a recent dream or even something that happened to me during waking hours.

How can you go into sleep paralysis if you're moving your fingers?

You don't need to sleep paralysis to WILD. It is a very slight movement. You do it kind of like DEILD, where you wake up, but then just barely move your fingers.

Remember that all rules are just guidelines when it comes to LDing. You want to find something that works, and it probably won't be perfectly by the book, but you need to check your schedule plus all the techniques you were trying when you actually get an LD, so that you know what makes YOU become lucid.
