If you smoke pot or that spice stuff it seriously handycaps you!
Don't eat lots before bed, just small amounts if you're hungry :)
If you plan on LDing, or just having pleasant dreams, you should put aside any negative thoughts or problems you have and save them for tomorrow. That helps lots, to be honest.
Oh and alcohol is most usually a no-no as supresses REM and hinders recall.
