For me, a couple of beers can help in dream recall, but too many will just lead to a hangover.
or so i've read.Quote:
Several drinks decrease REM, or dreaming sleep[/b]
but i seem to remember dreams better after a night of drinking.
Yeah, I actually had my first LD after enjoying some margarita's the night before. But it hasn't worked since.
From what I've read, the alcohol connection is pretty much the same as melatonin, it suppresses REM the first few hours you're asleep and then creates a rebound effect that intensifies your dreams for the last couple hours and makes you more likely to realize you're dreaming.
im drunk right now, and about to lucid dream myself. i know im going to lucid dream because im confident, and the reason for this is that everytime im as drunk as i am now i tend to lucid dream, by setting my alarm for about 8am and then i eat crisps from 8 until 9 because it helps my hangover and i drink some water, then i got back to bed and close my eyes, then what i saw before i closed my eyes comes back to me without opening my eyes. its the strangest feeling ever!
I was about to make a post about this my self. Because last night (Sunday) I had three LD's. Friday night I got drunk, then Saturday night I got drunk then Sunday nights sleep seemed like I was dreaming for solid hours at a time, like a few nights dreams all in one night. Anyway theres a definate connection, but it aint to good for your body.
Hey I experience lucid dreams for over 3 years now, and almost always at days when I have been to a bar the night before. My body is then feels totally exhausted, while my mind is some how awake. I can feel it troughout the day and I can tell for sure, that it is going to be one of those nights.
Since me and my friends hit the bars really heavy whenever we go out, we have similar experiences with it. But I have also have had LD's when I just was really tired. Most of the time I am sober when I have these dreams, but I wasn't sober the night before.
I've had two of the most vivid/lucid dreams of my life after a night of drinking, but both were flukes from the time before I started this stuff. Anytime I try to replicate it I end up sleeping in late and remembering nothing of my dreams, so I wouldn't say it's a very effective tool.
Got drunk Thursday night, Had a huge LD Friday night and a small one Saturday night. Theres no doubt about the connection.
Yup it's true alchohol taken in the right amount has an effect on the vividness of your dreams. I read it in a post a guy made while talking about vitmin B6 he was examining things the both boosted and hindered the vividness of dreams. Here's the link to the post I made like a month ago.

I can say the first *really vivid* dream I had, the one that changed the way I think about dreams....
...happened after several pints and some fabulous BBQ!
Shame that place went out of business.
I may find out more...I'm drinking some Segram's Seven right now....Not a lot
just one drink.
If I have something really intresting tonight....I'll post it for sure!

Yeah it definately does help. I had four LD's about 2 weeks ago in 7 hours sleep (No joke). One was a false awakening which I realised after about a minute that I was still dreaming though. Whenever go to sleep drunk I usually have an LD. Heh, Once I even had a drunken LD which, now that I think of it, I dont even think is possible :D
Btw - Ye Americans can't handle yere drink
evrything acts as an inhibitor for me, alcholo, weed even music, i can never rmber dreams the next day or have ny sense of having dreamed, tis most odd :?
Well....
I had a NoGo after the Seagrams...
I barely remember dreaming anything...
Oh well....
That doesn't mean I won't keep trying!

When I drink, I drink to get obliterated (i'm an alcoholic, it's in control right now). So for me...going to sleep drunk means passing out flat. I rarely ever recall a dream after a night of drinking, and I won't be participating in any experiments with it. I'm happily sober over 9 days now. It's interesting to see the effects that it has on you guys though.
i have two extra beers from a couple nights ago that i'm going to drink tonight, hopefully have a good Lucid
I had a lucid last nite too, good stuff
Haha, my first LD was after a night of bourbon and cokes!
However, the other night I drank, it got a bit messy and I didn't remember a thing.
Oh well, I guess it's all about the right amount. :D
I can't stand the taste or effects of alcohol, so that's a no no for me anyhow.
I find drugs help me have the most amazing LDs ever.
Especially valium.
Alcohol reduces my dream recall.
So far I've found that I need a good amount of concentration while awake in order to become lucid. So I'm surprised to hear that many have found alcohol helps with LD.
