Totem Reality Checks? (NOT like Inception.)

I was just curious about something. I believe that Inception's basis on totems and such are different but WOULD it be possible to have your own totem - Like for example a die or a chess piece- that you can try to manipulate as a reality check?

Like for example if I have a dice, if all the sides of it are six or if my chess piece can be stretched or manipulated to how I want, could this be a valid reality check?

I know a TILD is impossible but I realized that this might be a handy way to do a reality check. But IS IT POSSIBLE OR am I just -no pun intended- dreaming?

I suppose it could, but it sounds slightly complicated. Try simon Says with dc's, that is fun! Though if it doesn't work, you may want to try something else since you can't always control dreams well.. Unless YOU can.

I believe it totally possible.
Pick your favourite totem and everytime you think about it do a RC.
I haven't tried it, but after a month of constantly reminding yourself of that totem
you'll probably also do it in a dream from time to time.
Don't see the totem as a sign for Lucid Dreams, use it as a mental reminder.
BUT I'm not really an expert, so it's just my guess.

I agree with cooky, I totally think this would work. It would work on the same principle as a watch which you always wear showing up in your dream.

I've actually tried with with a Silver Dollar that I carried around for awhile. I think it could work. I gave up on it because it was another thing to keep track of. Later I realized my cell phone worked better for this. I have many dreams where my cell phone doesn't work properly. I haven't made this work for me but I think will a little effort it could. Usually I just focus on awareness.
