Hi fellow oneironauts !
Whenever i try to WILD, even if i fail, i usually have DILDS or interesting experiences like vibrations, sleep paralysis, FAs...later that night
is this related with the particular technique i use ( hypnagogic imagery ) or is this a natural side effect of WILDing ?
Do you find it easier to DILD after a WILD attempt ???
When working on your awareness; whether it's through RC,s, ADA, WILD, DJ:ing or meditation of some kind, your general awareness becomes higher... which in turn makes it easier to randomly have a lucid dream (or another experience linked to awareness) during sleep.

I agree with Tucane. Talking from personal experience, i haven't had any luck with DILDs at all when i first started, i could only WILD, but the more i got into WILD'ing the more i am now getting random DILDs every now and then along the way. :D
The difficulty levels between DILD and WILD, like anyone will tell you, is different for everyone.
DILD is usually dependent on basic foundations for lucid dreaming:
- Keeping a Dream Journal and being consistent with it (not 24/7 consistent, just what you can do, even if it's just recalling every other day or something)
- Being aware of how you react to the dream world and waking life
And so much more. Some people may not be able to keep track of their Dream Journal because of personal life that distracts them easily. They may be able to WILD because they can just use that spare time they have for sleeping to become lucid. Because they don't have to focus on all the specifics with dream journals and emotions, and only focus on just being passively awareness, that's why they have better chances of WILDing than DILDing.
So to know which is easier is what you put into them separately. If you can be persistent and consistent, DILD will generally tend to be easier for you because you're gradually accumulating dream recall and learning to make more dream content from many factors like:
- Emotions
- Reactions to Others
- How your vision in dreams compares to waking life
- Knowing what's possible in waking life to know abnormalities in the dreaming world
- Etc.
If you're a person who only has time to do a WBTB for instance, and you're willing to devote that small range of time to be passively aware, chances are, you'll be easier to conform to the processes of WILDing.
Ultimately, things like:
- How a person can sustain awareness at 2 AM, 3 AM in the morning for a WBTB affects the learning curve. (People usually are groggy obviously by those time ranges, and it takes practice to get used to waking up like that and going back to sleep)
- How a person takes dream journals reasonably ( Knowing there will be some days they don't have as much time to recall dreams and days where they have more than enough time)
And more affects how easy a certain LD technique is compared to others.

My main question is if DILDing becomes easier after a WILD attempt in the same night, what do you think ?
If so, perhaps we can think of it as a DILD adjuvant, and strongly recommend it to beginners ( which are more often advised to focus on DILD )

Well, the ambition with WILD is simply shifting from waking state to dreaming state. Whether or not enduring and knowing how it feels like to have a successful WILD as a basis to knowing how to be proficient in DILD is honestly separate. It might work out, but for the mechanisms behind the two techniques, their differences are clear as day. You might do a WILD successfully, then become non-lucid, and then come back to lucidity when you see something abnormal in your dream and have a DILD, but WILD itself doesn't increase the chance of being proficient in DILDing.Quote:

As for WILD being a DILD Adjutant, that's just trying to sugar-coat what a person has to go through for both. Like someone in the DVA academy used to mention in a WILD thread, there isn't a thing like a "Kinda-WILD" or a WILD that's "kinda" like a DILD helper. Just go with the basics, and don't worry too much of creating your own terminology, it's just going to skew things.
I know how tempting it feels to say that this certain technique transcends to knowledge of mastering another technique based on the reward system being higher because of its difficulty to get there, but everyone is going to have a different outcome. If it ends up working for you, then good! But just know in different perspectives of others, they might not see the Eureka moment you'll get. It's really based on making an analogy that makes people's heads "click" and relate to how that person did it as well.
Not a lot of people can make good examples, which is why there's some conflict here and there with understanding. :P
That is not my worry with this thread, altough i would not mind if i was able to. I am just not used to write in english. Btw, DILD helper makes more sense than DILD adjuvant.Quote:

I agree that DILD and WILD can work together and I think the link is intention. When you attempt WILD, besides the technical aspects, you are also cultivating a strong intention to have a lucid dream. This intention can carry over into DILD later, whether or not the WILD is successful.
Last night i spent 1, 5 hour Wilding after 3 hours of sleep and i had 3 lucids after giving up. Now i mostly DILD after my WILD attempts.
I would like to know if this effect happens to more people( and i mean a clear and strong effect).

Please if you want to give some feedback, make sure you had at least 2 dreams after your WILD attempt, and also that your WILD attempt lasted for 40 minutes or more . And if possible, just describe the specific technique ( visualization, mantra, hypnagogic imagery.. ) and the conditions you did it ( mindset, sleep time, etc )
I WILD after 3 hours so that i don't lose time in a good REM period in which i have a good chance to DILD.
Probably i dont need to 1, 5 hour attempt, but time seems to go faster and i enjoy the technique ( hypnagogic imagery technique ).
I usually get DILD after WILD attempt myself also. Maybe it occurs because you're more lucid after spending so many minutes concentrating on lucidity, idk.
