just tried one then, was lying down repaeting i will realize the next dream sign i see as my mantra, done it so long i ended up in sp and nearly pulled off a wild
Can you give us any information at all? What you did, how long you have been doing it? From the way you phrased this it seems like you tried once and gave up.
You tried for one night. Give it time.
If it was that easy, everybody would be doing it.
He may have been trying only for one night, but I have been doing this for a few weeks now, trying not to give up on the technique.
I've only had one DILD through MILD, but it was kind of random. I want to be able to do it again.
Basically what I do is: use autosuggestion to give myself motivation to get lucid sometime during the night, then say a few times, "the next time I'm dreaming, I'll know I'm dreaming." Lastly, I try to envision myself in recent dreams, walking up to my dream signs, and imagining what it would be like to recognize I'm dreaming in that situation, saying "this is a dream" when I see the dream sign.
Is this a good way to induce it?
I usually don't have the patience to fall asleep while doing this - after about 30 minutes I really just want to go to sleep. It keeps me up. I have a lot of trouble sleeping sometimes.
Any suggestions/comments?
It took me about 45 days to get a single MILD. I get about 5 a week right now, of course I try it about 42 times a week, so 5 a week isn't too many successes. You gotta stick with it. I think that visualizing helps but isn't 100% necessary. Just make sure that you mean what you say when you are using it. More info on what you are using would help. There are a ton of different ways to MILD, and some are based purely on visual. I am very big into visualization as what goes through your mind is what makes your dreams. You could spend the entire day working at a grocery store thinking about Zelda and not even letting the grocery store cross your mind. You will dream about Zelda. This is from my personal experience and isn't documented by anyone but me, it might be different for other people though :P. A big part of lucid dreaming is finding out what effects your dreams, your recall, and your awareness. That is why I recommend documenting everything you try and trying everything you do for a minimum of 2 weeks. Autosuggestion is an art, it takes practice, and the more tired you are the less effective it is.
if you are opened to adding some RCs and awareness to your mantras, this is what I recommended in another thread.
If it keeps you awake, that kinda defeats the purpose. Start the mantra after you are in bed for a while, when almost asleep.
Haha, it's funny that you say this! I had a dream last night that I was in Zelda! It was a third person dream, where I controlled Link in some ice cave, shooting fire arrows at Ice keese.
As you said in that thread, gab, I think I'll try to repeat my mantra throughout the day, to give some thought and meaning to it. My mantra is, "When I am dreaming, I'll know that I'm dreaming." I say this after doing a reality check, making sure I'm in the waking state.
How is it best to integrate the visualizations and autosuggestion together before bed?
