The only time I have ever been lucid (or was I?)
Hey all, I've decided to get back in to the world of lucid dreaming after dabbling a bit in my teenage years and experiencing little to no success (and getting bored).
I want to share an experience with you all that I had about 15 years old (I am now 20), and want to get your opinion if this was in fact a lucid dream or not.
In my dream, I was standing in some sort of open plain concrete square, surrounded by close grassy hills that I couldn't see over. There was a small plane in the middle, which I ran over to. The entrance was a vertical ladder underneath the plane, where you climbed up into the aisle of it. I got in and sat in an empty seat. There was a ticket inspector (who was my Dad, which was odd), and I realised I had not bought a ticket. I tried to sit inconspicuously and hoped he wouldn't notice me, and it worked. He walked right by me, and for some reason I came to the conclusion that I was invisible. I decided I need to get off the plane since I never had a ticket, so when the aisle was free I opened the door on the ground, and realised the ladder was absolutely huge and the distance to the ground was far bigger than I thought. I fell out the plane but landed on my feet and was surprised to realise it never hurt at all.
This was where I believe I realised I was dreaming. I immediately decided I wanted to experience flight, and so I ran over to this natural-looking staircase (a staircase structure that looked like it was a natural path) at the edge of the concrete square in order to get a boost. I ran to the first step and jumped, got incredibly high but fell back to the stairs.
It was then I realised the stairs were covered in ice, and every time I tried to jump off them, I would slip and not get a suitable jump which would make me fall back down. After about 10 seconds of constantly falling, I woke up.
This was the only experience I had that felt like a lucid sort of dream when I began trying to become lucid. I realised I was dreaming, but I couldn't control the environment from acting against me and therefore couldn't actually do anything in the dream.
So did I 'attain lucidity' here?
Because in all honesty it only felt like I had attained half-lucidity, or, more hilariously, I dreamed about waking up in a dream and therefore wasn't actually lucid and couldn't control my environment.
