It's been a while since I've been back on the forums, I've been doing pretty well with my LD'ing, but, the main issue now is i cant seem to become lucid while I'm in my dream. I have great recall, I just can't tell myself " wow that was insane, you must be dreaming". If anyone can shed some light on this issue I would be more than gracious.

Your trouble might rest in waking life discipline. If you've already gained some experience with LD'ing, and still you're not becoming lucid at obvious times (aka: DILD), you might just need to spend some time in waking life building your expectations and spend some serious time just before sleep setting intention.
If you are able to build a section of your waking-life psyche that simply "knows" that you will be aware that you are dreaming when the time comes, You will be hard-pressed to ignore the signals when they occur during the dream.
So do what you can to work on your waking-life mental prep, and you will find yourself more than ready to both notice that you are dreaming during the dream, and also to act on that discovery!

Sageous nailed it perfectly ^^ Lucidity doesn't happen if it's only imagined in dreaming. You must achieve it during your waking-life as well. Once you get used to the fact that at any given moment you might be asleep in your bed experiencing a dream, you'll know that there's no "line" to be drawn when it comes to dreaming and waking reality :)

When you say " waking life discipline" do you mean doing reality checks? Thanks for the replies btw.
^^ Reality checks would be a portion of it, yes, but your overall goal would be building your self-awareness and memory to a point where you are able to recognize your presence wherever you are, including in a dream (doing so in waking life is harder than you might think!). Also, during this process your expectations should shift toward an almost unconscious assumption that you'll be LD'ing, simply because you're putting so much of your time and mind to the cause.
I haven't much time right now, but you might want to check out my DVA WILD Class, as its sessions on mental prep say more about waking life work, and what's there actually applies to whatever method you choose to become lucid... You also might check out my Lucid Dreaming Fundamentals thread; it's a bit of a read, but it covers this stuff in fairly extensive detail.
