Some tips for a starter
Hello, I just joined DV and I've been trying to lucid dream casually for a couple months, but today was my last day of sophmore year and I want my summer to be lucid :D
First off, I will try keep a dream journal, the only problem is I don't have any dream recall. I was recommended to write down that I didn't remember, so it subconsciously tells my brain to remember the next nights dream
Second, I've only tried using the sleep paralysis method. This has never worked for me though, as I fall asleep before anything
I mainly just want some tips for a person to start off on, I've heard other ways are better and that some things can help with reality checks (like pinching your nose and taking a deep breath, it should feel vivid and weird if you're dreaming). Another thing I've read that I think I'll try is to sort of tell yourself that a pill you take will make you lucid. Not to trick yourself (because that'd be pretty hard :P) but so you subconsciously think you WILL lucid from it. If only I could placebo myself!

Hi,
1. Dream journal is essential, so good job on that.
2. If you don't remember anything, write something like "my memory is good and my recall is getting better every day".
3. Sorry, you have been misled. You don't need SP to have a lucid dream.
4. You can pick from two main techniques - WILD and DILD. DILD is suggested to start with, because it will teach you everything you will need for this, and every other technique.
5. Please check out Dreamviews recommended tutorials Induction Methods and Techniques
Collection of techniques for DILD http://www.dreamviews.com/dild/13212...ods-dilds.html
and classes in DV Academy DV Academy if you feel like it.
Good luck.

When it comes to dream journaling there is no trying, either do it or don't. Preferably do, it's uber crucial. Also look up lucid living, all day awareness and read... alot, the more you know the better. For me a proper and healthy diet helps, and don't mindlessly do those reality checks. I can't tell you how many times I did reality checks in my dreams when I first started just to completely miss my chance at lucidity. Use your imagination too.

Most importantly, have fun!
