Reality check stuffs
Ok, so I've been thinking about reality checks recently.
My favorite is the nose one, but I don't like it because sometimes I don't plug my nose right, or its just plain wrong. So I've been thinking about trying to make a new one.
My theory incoming, feel free to shoot it down if it's wrong:
I think that reality checks only work if we realize that they're not supposed to happen. Like, that's why they tell you to practice them, I think its to associate those attributes of it with reality. So that when you go into a dream, it will have the opposite effect. You know what I'm sayin'?
So truthfully, anything could be a reality check. So I'd like to create my own, one that I know will work and be easy and all that stuff. But first I need y'all's help to tell me if this is plausible.
Thanks in advance. ;)
Sweet dreams. :sleepmeditate2:

Of course it's possible! Tons of people create their own personalized reality checks and have great success with it. :)
-
Alrighties then! I'll get to work on my own!
-
Yeah, like Mancon said, people create personalized reality checks and they do work, i have 'taking headphones off' reality check for naps because sound remains for a while after i take headphones off in dream. But either way it's not the action part of reality check that is important, it's the mindset and awareness that we get while performing reality checks that makes us lucid. ;)

So, one more question, if the reality check contains an object for it to work, such as, oh I dunno, some glasses for example, how do you make sure that that item comes with you in your dream?
-
Well, if you use said item often then you might be using it in your dream, but don't think there's a way for it to happen 100%, i'd suggest combining such reality checks with more simple reality checks that do not involve items, i combine my headphone check with looking at hands for example.

For my RCs I look at my hands and count my fingers, then I try to push my fingers through my palm. Then I try to breathe through my nose. Those have never failed me in my dreams.
