To know and not being aware?

Sometimes I have dreams where I know it's a dream although it looks like I'm not aware of the fact that it's a dream. I have a good control over the dream and usually I use to ride on the plot, playing the dream as it was some sort of movie and I'm the main actor, "editing" the dream whenever I see it's necessary because of I know I can do that and other things like performing dream powers, etc. I don't count these dreams as any sort of lucid dreams.
I'm wondering if I should consider these dreams as LD's although with a very low level of lucidity?

The only requirement for a dream to be called lucid is for a dreamer to be aware that he is dreaming, while dreaming.

I have had a few dreams like you describe, altough with much lesser degree of control. These happened when my training started to kick in and I had more vivid dreams, even some lucid elements were present, like doing magic and amazing people with that. But those were just dreams with hightened awareness and control.

If you are not aware that you are dreaming, then I would say it wasn't a LD. Especially in DILDs, there is most of the time (for me always) an "aha" moment. The "wow, I'm really dreaming" realization and exclamation.

I see you had plenty of LDs already and you are experienced. So sorry, if what I said now is nothing new to you. Happy dreams:alien:

You're right! I find that's the difference between those dreams and my LD's (DILD's) too. In those non-lucid dreams, although apparently I know it's a dream, I never reach the point of realizing the implications of that and I just play with the plot as it's some sort of movie, where I can rewind, fast forward, repeat the scenes, change the actors, change my actions, etc. But I'm not aware of what's really happening. It looks like I'm interested in the results of the dream rather than the fact it's a dream. Perhaps those dreams could be something like daydreaming in a very realistic way.

I don't remember becoming lucid inside those dreams. Although I would love to get lucid there because of the quality of dream control is really high, I could say even better than the few WILD's I had.

There's another kind of dreams where I think it's my waking life, usually I become lucid there and it's really hard for me to reach a good level of control over the dream, if I'm able to reach it. In those dreams I don't even know it's a dream before getting lucid, and perhaps that's why it's hard to gain a good level of lucidity because of I have to break the chains that are telling me it's the "real" world in the first place.

Thinking about it, I find that there must be certain amount of lucidity in those dreams where I possibly know it's a dream. I had one of those a couple of nights ago. I realized that there was a point where I was not comfortable with the result of the sequence, then I reset the plot of the dream to a point where I started again and took another action to see something like: "what happens if..." then let it play again until I saw the new results. Then I looked for another "intersection" and changed the action once again to see the new sequence, until I woke up to realize what I was doing.

Could it be something like I know it's a dream but I don't care?

To add, it's quite possible when awareness is low to not have much waking memory or even still have different personality and follow dream's plot while being lucid, but if you really feel like it's closer to non-lucid, then it most likely was non-lucid, there have been known cases of dreaming of actions that one would do while lucid, but not being really aware. It's really up for you to decide. :zzz:

And yes, since I don't have the "Wow!" feeling, I don't consider the dream as lucid. For me it's like waking up inside the dream, sometimes it's hard, sometimes it's easy, although no matter what, it's me who wakes up there.
