any idea? besides the fact that it is unnatural.
I'm not entirely sure myself, but I'd hazard a guess that it really is because of the unnatural-ness (I like making words up). Because it involves staying conscious while the body wants you to go to sleep, it goes against all natural inhibitions related to the subject. Other than that? I suppose that since it requires lots of practice, but practice cannot be obtained whenever you want, it's difficult to master.
It takes patience and timing. It's best done in the morning (when the sun is coming up, which is not usual for people to wake up then). We live in a not so patient society, and trying to force things only makes it worse.
I have been practicing this at night, and it takes about 1.5 hours to get SP with vibrations. In the morning it probably took 15 to 30 minutes to get the SP and vibrations and to fall into the dream. The entire time, you can't get discouraged, or you'll get angry, restless, and your mind will be racing with thoughts. Otherwise it's all over. Just know once the vibrations start surrounding you it should relax you and they'll put you right into dream mode.
gosh, before i quit marijuana last month, i was literally starting to see HI and feel a wild come on in 10 minutes, sometimes 10 seconds, no joke i swear (even before sleep). then i quit to build my recall and my wilds became impossible to do at that point. so i restarted last week and i see a slight improvement in WILD but damn its still impossible. i should have never stopped! maybe it will build up in time and let me do wilds like its nothing again.
I gave up the green leaf 3 months ago and im quite sad :( parents caught me drug test eh yea no good but that stuff is the shiznit you dream better the dreams are more vivid and what not + all the bonuses but yea dont know if that is good to talk about but hey i guess nobody knows what the slang means in general ehh?
I think marijuana is an excellent tool to aid in WILD's. The hypnagogic imagery is there as soon as i begin to close my eyes...like Jay Dawg said, sometimes, literally within 10 seconds...bam...WILD. I haven't smoked since tuesday or monday though. I just moved and didn't have the cash to bring any supplies with me...I don't trust anyone here, plus the shit they got is garbage. I used to smoke every single day, with the exception of a day off here and there. It will be interesting to see what effects this will have on dreaming, LD'ing, and recall.
I think it was Stephen LaBerge that said 8 or 9 out of 10 people are not the hypnotizable kind and that is what’s required to WILD. As nasty as this may sound 80 percent of us are beating a dead horse, so to speak. The good news is MILD DILD
Well, I don't remember if that was in a Stephen Laberge book, or if those are the correct figures, but I know I'm not hypnatizable. I participated in a study in a psychology class about that. You'd be suprised how many people are prone to hypnatization though! :shock:Quote:

I don't think 80% of peple trying to WILD are beating a dead horse though, you can train yourself to WILD! You can also learn to not become hypnatized, once you recognize the techniques used to hypnatize people.
I'll have to do some research on this tommorrow though, refresh my memory on the topic.
maybe those figures mean how many ppl can do it at will? i mean wild never works for me, then out of nowhere it comes like a bolt of lighting and im like O CRAP FINALLY then i screw up.
You spend your entire life learning to fall asleep the "Natural" way. It is going to take some time and effort to unlearn all of that.
I was sleeping this morning but I tried to lucid dream and I think I went WILD?
I was awake but I had dreams in my head for about 5-10 seconds and then theyd go away and I would toss and turn and put the quilt between my legs because it was really hot.
Does that count for anything? :P
Hit the nail on the head, friend.Quote:

Well, I just read a study that says:
"Those who can by no possibility fix their attention, who suffer from continual absence of mind, or those who are helplessly stupid and lacking the power of concentration, are not hypnotizable."
I am not any of those things. I think the reason why I was not able to be successfully hypnotized in class was because I already knew the techniques employed to hypnatize someone, and I did not want to become hypnotized.
I found a few articles relating hypnosis to lucid dreaming though, if anyone's interested:
http://www.hypnosis-kids.com/hypnosis-luci...id-dreaming.htm
http://www.deeptrancenow.com/lucid_dreaming.htm
Most everything I aspect on the topic seems to imply that WILD (not necessarily in those terms) is a form of self hypnosis, which now, in retrospect, I agree with, to some extent. Don't know what standing that leaves with differences in WILD and HILD though  I'll have to read more on HILD...that's a technique I'm not very familiar with, as WILD comes so easily with me, I've been focussing all my attention and time to it, without much regard to other methods at this point.
are u saying i am incredibly stupid?!! DIE!!!!!!j/k lol
i was pissed until i woke up again. i tried WBTB WILD for 45 minutes. in and out of consciousness but no dice. then i had an uncontrollable urge to turn over and sleep (i know that means wild is near, but ...it was UNCONTROLLABLE! lol).
i had the most detailed vivid aware dream imaginable. i am so amazingly excited. ive almost never recalled a dream this good, THAT much detail, and right at the end i woke up immediately and recalled it all! after 45 minutes of dreaming. the interesting thing is, i may have been lucid a few times. at one point i was running from some people chasing me in an elegant beautiful hotel and had to get to an elevator. then it was hard to run i was thinking "this is like a dream in which its hard to run, maybe this is one" then inside the elevator the switch wouldnt close the door! so i thought its a dream so i used my mind to close the door and it worked! rest of the details are my own. some include maniquins lining the hotel halls. at one point i thought "oh crap they better not wake up and attack me" and yet somehow they didnt...earlier,barfing taco bell into a garbage can, then carrying it around. my awareness was high, i saw the sun and moon at the same location and the moon was massive and a massive chunk was exploded out near it. so amazing i wanted to take a picture but no camera!
ive been having a ton of these extremely vivid, detailed "low lucids" like this, especially after wild attempts.
I have these too! Although frustrating it just makes it that much more clearer that your practice at WILD's is doing you good!Quote:

I dont understand whats so hard about WILD for all you people, it came so easy for me (my first LD after joining this site was a WILD) you just have to not expect too much (such as HI and what-not) because iv never "looked" for HI or SP while attempting WILD and i believe thats why its so easy for me.
(PS. your dumbasses for promoting pot as a WILD aid, the only thing its gonna do is kill your WILDs... the things you see before a successful WILD are just points along the way, they dont mean your actually going to WILD, pot just lets you see those things sooner while killing your chance at getting to the goal)
uhhh sorry santa but some people find "pot" to actually help a wild attempt. especially since it is a REM supressor like booz, but when you come off the high you get "rem rebound". at that point rem onset is much sooner and longer than normal. good day
I'm not a guy. I'm very good at attaing lucidity through the WILD method, with or without marijuana. Please don't refer to me as a dumbass. I never told anybody to go start smoking pot with the promise that it's going to give you a WILD. I simply agreed with Jay on his statement, saying that it's true for me too. And I'm so sick of debating drugs with people over the internet.Quote:

ditto
why is wild so hard ?
I`ll try answer to that question, but before that lets see shortly what we know about sleep and wild.
1.when we are tired and want rest,we hit the bed and are sooner or later sleeping.
2.when we are tired and want rest,we hit the bed and...if then we are very secretly and silently letting through
our mind even once the thought"i want dream consciously"then we are very awake again!
what i learnd through countless wild attempts:
i`m in bed relaxed,i want to enter dream consciuosly, everything seems going ok,then i notice :my mind is so so active
that its impossible to drift to sleep.
And thats where interesting thing starts:at that point we feel frustated physically or mentally AND then if we think
"enough i cant no more" and letting go, the next "blink of an eye" you`r DREAMING ! ie.sleeping.
so back to the question WHY IS WILD SO HARD ?
believe that there are forces that dont want as dream consciuosly (you may even call them fallen angels)
"thats my big bang theory" :D from Mad Dog Time :D
im not sure if demons are trying to keep us from LDing, not that i have any idea how they could even do that in the first place....? even if they are real.
I think the reason why it's hard is that we're trying to spawn upstream on the sleep cycles, in a sense. We know that the earlier part of the night, where there's little REM to go around, is where the body relaxes/recharges... so one could assume that the later stages, with lots of REM, is where your mind relaxes. So, when you get up and interrupt your sleep at a point where you start dreaming a lot, your body is almost fully recharged, but your brain is still very tired... but WILD _would_ be optimal if it were the other way around - tired body, alert mind. I think this, as a whole, is what makes WILD hard.
yes, that is true.
In the future I have resolved to try to go to bed early, wake up pretty alert and rested, maybe around 4 or 5, then spend an hour and half doing some excercise or something to make your body tired. Your mind has gotten the amount of sleep it needs already, yet you are physically worn.
I want to see what the difference is going to be.
I am pretty good at inducing WILD's with just a simple WBTB method, but it can never hurt to try something else.
I absolutely agree with Replicon.
He has a very good point.
you could most likely get the same affect from just sleeping 4 or 5 hours, then keep yourself awake until you feel like your going to drop in the afternoon or evening. i mean unless someone is like 12 years old, you WILL feel it.Quote:

Actually i find WILDs 2 be quite easy....
i guess the only hard part is actually staying awake... while not staying awake... sorta speak :alien: well hopefully u get what i mean...
but i always do WILDs w/out meaning 2.... which Bob... who changed his name 2 something i can't remember.... told me wouldn't be a WILD...
& it's all so confusing!!!!
