My LD Method

This is my LD method.....the abbreviated version.

1. I set my alarm to wake up in the wee hours of the morning. Usually between 2 and 4am.

2. I get up and piddle around and make sure I'm in full Beta for atleast an hour.

3. I return to bed and set a Timer. It's a series of tones/beeps that are spaced at 4 to 10 minute intervals. The timer keeps me from falling back asleep and is a reality check.

* I set the timer on repeat, so that it beeps every few minutes for about 2 hours.

4. When I begin to dream (which is usually about an hour or more after I go back to sleep), I hear the "beep" and this reminds me that I am dreaming - and I become lucid.

Many times, the timer brings on OBE instead of LD, but either way, I usually have some type of experience.

Hello,

The OBE/LD Timer is free....yay. No need to buy anything. The link to the Timer is in my signature.

The page has 3 options:

1) You can download the program to your computer - if you have a laptop you can set it next to your bed. I don't prefer this method because I think that strong electrical currents near your sleeping area can "ground you." If you do use the Timer on your laptop, just set it across the room (not on your bed) and turn the volume to a loud setting.

2) You can use it directly from the website. Again, just don't be too close to the computer.

3) You can download the Tones and Silences and burn them to CD or to your Mp3 player. This is what I did. I just put them on my Ipod, set it to Repeat, and begin. I make sure my Ipod battery is about 50% used before I do this, so it will shut down about 2 hours into the process.

ahh i love that timer, ive been using it for a while now and it seems to keep me alert enough to have great recall. maybe i have the volume too low but it hasnt gotten me lucid ever. ive been having it go off on "tweet" 2 hours after i go to bed then i have it go off every 15 minutes until i wake up. you seem to have a lot of experience with the timer. any advice you could share would be appreciated! did u have to exparament with the volume much to induce LDs? i had a sort of FA/LD thing this morning in which i thought to myself "im having an OBE or something" as i began mentally floating through my bedroom. maybe its starting to work for me? i have yet to turn it full volume like saltcube says. do you find it works better at full volume or low volume? thanks and welcome!

1) Are you a light sleeper?
Do you sometimes wake up when turning over and repositioning in bed?
Do you wake up in the middle night to go to the bathroom or get a drink?

2) How quickly do you fall asleep?
Does it take you a long time or is it fairly quick?

3) How easy it is for you to achieve LD or OBE?

it may be because im really high right now and read your name but i got mad deja vu! lol

anyway! yes i think i am a light sleeper. i used to sleep strait through the night 10 hours! but ive since trained myself to wake after most of my dreams. well i fall asleep pretty fast, even faster when im coming off a high. before i took my month long recall building herb break, wild started 10 minutes or 10 seconds for me sometimes, now? NEVER! hopefully my present stupor will give me that lost ability, in a couple weeks i hope!

so what do you think i should do with the timer? :oops:

Many drugs will "ground" your spirit. Although it may feel like it's "setting your mind free," it disrupts your spirt/body harmony, which can inhibit spirit separation (OBE). It can also make LD very difficult to achieve. If drugs could help you LD, then you would already be able to LD very easily. So maybe consider trying to LD without drugs....just a suggestion.

Based on your reply, I would set the timer to beep at 8 minute intervals increasing to 12 minute intervals for a total of 2 hours.

Turn the timer on as soon as you lay down to sleep - not 2 hours after you are asleep. If you use headphone/earbuds, then keep the volume fairly low.

Keep perfectly still during this time - do not move at all. Resist the urge to turn over or re-adjust your position.

As you enter REM, the timer tone will remind you that you are, indeed, dreaming. When you are dreaming and hear the tone, give yourself an affirmation, such as: "I remember this tone. It's here to remind me that I am dreaming."

no i dont think u understood what i was saying exactly. i did stop marijuana for a month and it has hurt my wild attempts. i guess u dont know from personal experience that weed jump starts wild. but anyway i went to sleep trying wild lastnight, while being high, and it worked in under 10 minutes!

drugs let you see with your third eye sometimes, some say that is spiritual, drugs are pro-spirit! i read about spiritual enlightenment and the chakras and even they say drugs greatly help!

but anyway, are u saying i should have the timer start going off about every 10 minutes as soon as i go to bed? not a bad idea, does this keep u alert enough to enter a mild ld or wild kind of? also, have you tried using the timer at full volume after 5 hours of sleep like the website says? any luck?

Indeed the herbal method jay refers to does indeed jump start and help with many things i shall give you a list.

1.Helps you to sleep when coming off.
2.Dreams are more vivid.
3.LD's occur more easily
4.WILD's are easy as pie
5.OBE's are more easily achievable
6.You are able to control LD's more easily

The list goes on so i will not bore you any longer and if was in my room i use that clock i have heard so many good things about i am so poed that i cant use it >.< when school starts I am definatly gonna try and use this.

why cant u use it man? i dont use it too loud so no one will hear it!

The blasted comp is not in my room and the nearest thing to a bed next to it is the floor so yea dont think much sleep can be obtained by sleeping on the floor this upsets me lol.

The "herbal method" must be subject to the dreamer. I smoke often, and though I love my smoke, I don't think it has Ever helped me dream. Whenever I go to bed blazed, I pass right out, and sleep like a g'damn rock until my normal waking time. And when I wake up, I don't remember a thing. I think this may be more because I only get 6 hours of sleep usually on the weekdays. On the weekends, when I can sleep as long as I want (rarely, but sometimes) I'll have really vivid dreams if intoxicated on either smoke or alcohol. (After coming back from the club, and full if Long Island iced teas and a nice phat Phillie, my dreams can be pretty damn vivid, though my recall still pretty much sucks ass. lol.
My most vivid, Wild, completely immersive dreams come if I take something that will speed my system up a little while I'm sleeping, like B-6, or some type of dietary supplement. But I try not to do this constantly, because I'm sure regular, sober sleep is a little more healthy.
I do think weed helps with AP/OBE's though. I've never experienced either Fully, but I've been right on the threshold of AP (assuming astral projection actually exists) many times. Vibrations, dettached presence, meditative trance, and I can say with certainty, it comes on a lot better when smoked out. Heh.

Ah indeed i agree with you recall is sometimes not so good but when you can recall you will notice that what do you do recall is quite amazing.

My newer method of ld'ing is whenever i see some one for some reason (happens every time) i question if they are there and i become lucid. Yesterday morning i was riding a bike and a girl rode next to me and i said wow im dreaming. Kind of weird but it works for me.

DejaSoul. I think Im gonna try this, making an mp3 with 6 to 8 minute intervals on my mp3 player and doing WBTB method after 6 hours of sleep. I still have one question, there are 4 sounds there, which one do you tihnk is the best?

Yes, try using the Timer as you go to sleep using WILD. The Timer should not \"keep\" you alert - you don't want to stay continually alert because you need to enter Theta. That is why the Timer should be spaced at 8 to 10 minute intervals - so it allows enough time for you to slip into dreamstate. Once in dreamstate, the tone will act as your reality check.

By the way. I am not against the use of drugs. I probably know far more about them than you obviously assume, so be nice. :wink: I've had my fair share of experimentation, believe me. I understand that some need or desire drugs to either induce or enhance LD. I also understand that many people do not. Everyone is different...to each their own and I respect it.

I use the "Tone" signal because it's the least disruptive. I also make my own sounds sometimes, such as a Wind Chime and even my own voice, saying "You are lucid." That's the wonderful thing about using a Timer of some sort. You can create an affirmation or signal of your own choosing, that you know you'll be responsive to.

I have created some audio affirmations that also help me to "create" my dream. Such as, I have gone to sleep with my Ipod set on an interval, announcing different words.

Example:

First 30 minutes: Tones every 4 minutes.
Next 30 minutes: the name of a person every 5 to 8 minutes.
Next 30 minutes: the place I desire to be every 5 to 8 minutes.

The possibilites are really limitless.

oh and nice on oneir! LOL phat phillies are nice but only if you got some weak treez. LOL no way im takin more than 1 hit of what i got! im trying to AVOID the coma!! :lol: . yo if i put a brainwave mp3 on while im high i can like feel it working in my head, maybe it helps with that too.

Sorry, but I don't agree. I had ZERO dream recall when I got high. I quit, and my recall came back immediately. I recently went back to smoking again -- just a little bit to help me through some very stressful times -- and again my recall dropped to virtually zero -- and the few fragments of what I did remember were certainly not \"amazing\".

I think that sums it up right there.

No, it is not like marijuana. You do not smoke it. If you read the Guide at the above link, it will tell you how it's used. Marijuana is not a visual drug.

The only reason I posted the link is because it is a legal alternative to those who feel they need something to induce or enhance visual imagery.

I still feel that drugs are not the "key" to lucidity.

I tried your method yesterday, after I downloaded the timer I set the intervals between 8 to 12 minutes for 2 hours. Then I slept for about 5 hours, and stayed up for 10 minutes, not more for I had school that day. Maybe I try that this weekend because I just can't stay up for an hour till I'm in Beta state, sadly don't have that time. In the next 2 hours I experienced some things that had never happened to me before. With the first beep I woke up scared, with the second I woke but unconciusly but forced my eyelids to open, surprisingly I was in sleep paralysis and couldn't move a thing but my eyes. I thought closing my eyes and visualising something I would enter a dream instantly, but that didn't happen and I fell asleep instantly. I heard the third beep during a dream and I remembered that I was using a timer so I said to myself that I had to sleep in order to make well use of the timer and started searching for a bed to sleep and as I finally found one fell asleep in my dream. This isn't nessesarily the order of beeps but I think that one was it. I can't write anything more right now...the teacher is throwing me out hehe :lol: , I'll post later.

This is a good start :)

Remember, when you are in Sleep Paralysis, you're eyes are not physically open. You are indeed asleep, but the eyelids are transparent, which is why it's difficult to metaphorically "close" your eyes. It feels like you're wide awake, but you're not. I've had SP for years and love it....have never had any fear.

If you experience SP again, use that opportunity to OBE. SP is the Holy Grail of OBE and you're LUCKY that you can achieve it. Good for you!

There are several ways to exit the body while in SP. I've found the easiest way is to "Roll" away from your body. Use your mind, concentrate, "believe" it, and then Roll to your side. Another way is go "Up"....and also one of my favorite ways to OBE because going "Up" increases your vibrations. To do this, look at the ceiling and project yourself through it. Just remember, getting Out is all in your mind when your in SP, so don't try to use your body.

Also, a little hint. If you ever get scared while in SP, here is a way to get out. Why this works, I have no clue, but it does. Concentrate on moving your pinky finger. For some reason, it triggers you out of SP.

Good luck. Keep me posted on your progress! Remember too, it usually takes several weeks to get consistent responses with a Timer when you're new to it.....and you really are since you've not used it this way before.

I also do WBTB, but I'd never heard of a timer. (till the other day when jay posted a link) but anyways- I've heard of using a light to help induce lucids. I'm very interested in experimenting with the timer, but unfortunately I am waiting for my laptop to be built, the computer is no where close to my bed. Also, OBE's kinda freak me out, so I'm wondering, is it more likely to OBE or LD from the timer? I know you said it's more frequent for you to get OBE's, but what about anybody else who's used it?

The timer can be used for either LD or OBE.

To have LD instead of OBE, simply set the timer to longer intervals - approximately 12 to 20 minutes apart. In this way, the tone will sound while you are in REM (which is usually 90 minutes after falling asleep) and function as a "reality check." If you are dreaming when the tone sounds, you should become lucid. It will be an "Ah ha" moment, so to speak.

wow, i just want to add that this technique works....well for falling asleep anyway. i didnt become lucid, but i remember the dream so vividly. its interesting how your body checks up on you to see if you are ready for sleep...thanks! :lol:

Ok I tried your method last night. I went to bed for like 5 hours. Then after 5 hours I woke up via alarm clock. Then I used the RR, fired up the timer and layed back down. I was awake for about 5 minutse MAX. I only remember hearing it beep twice before slipped into sleep. I kept trying to WILD the whole time but for some reason I just fall asleep before I hit any of the stages of WILD. In the morning I woke up thinking the time got turned off in the night b/c I didnt hear it at all. As I aws logging on my PC it beeped so it was going the entire night. I just didnt hear it. I am a SUPER deep sleeper. I had a roomate who would do stuff in the room while I was sleeping and it wouldnt bug me a bit. Any ideas?

Would you consider adding a light output to your program? There are a couple of ways you could go about it, but probably the simplest would be to flash the monitor between black and a user selected color and intensity.

This should be effective if you can point your monitor so that your eyes catch a reflection from a wall.

This flash could be used in conjunction with the sound.

Wow that sounds crazy! How would I do that? Would me falling back asleep too quickly have anything to do w/ the fact that I stayed up for only 5 minutes?? The closes I have come to WILDing is I was laying on the couch trying to go to sleep when I went into the stages of wild. All the way to where my eyes started opening and light was coming in so I just stopped. Because I cant sleep w/ light in my eyes. Could these have been my dream eyes opening? Anyway I am kinda obsessed w/ this lucid dreaming. I will try about anything to do it. Ive had 3 lucid dreams to date and 2/3 were by accident. I think I might go back to the CILD (cellphone induced lucid dreaming) ideas. Instead of vibrate I'll use a tone. That way I wont get cancer sleeping w/ my cell phone down my pants all night :). If you have any ideas please feel free to share!!!

i know the brainwave generator allows you to program it to flash with lights and all. i know someone messed with it already. ill check it out maybe. also, i left the timer on the entire time i slept, every 12 minutes. some of the tones woke me up a little bit, some of them just gave me detailed dreams. i had it louder than my usual. you should put it really loud if youre a heavy sleeper, unless that will bug your buddies. stay up longer than 5 minutes, more like an hour, then youll be more awake in your next wbtb dream.

The LD/OBE Timer is not my creation. I just modified it a little to suit my sleep schedule.

Interestingly though, Adam Hewitt of Transparent Corporation asked the creator of the Timer if he could modify it - and then re-offer it to the public for free...although it's free now.

When you first start a method, it usually takes time before you experience the desired result. So many people (including myself sometimes) read about a method, try it, and then if it doesn't work the first few times.....give up on it.

ALL methods take time, even basic WILDS. So don't lose hope. Choose a method and stick with it for at least 30 days before giving up and moving to the next one. I know it's so hard when you're impatiently waiting and hoping, but it pays to perservere.

It's excellent that your dream imagery was more vivid. The more vivid your dream, the easier the recall. The easier the recall, the more you increase your chances of LD as time progresses.
