Had my FIRST lucid dream today!

Yeah, I have already posted it in my dream journal. Take a look if you want: First lucid dream!!!! - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

Thing is, I suppose I want some tips. I don't know if I could have done things better, but already, some ideas do come to mind. Perhaps doing better reality cheks, taking more slowly, doing different tests.. I don't know. I wasn't.. always 100% lucid... as it says in that entry there... I had a hard time firmly attaining lucidity in my dream. Each check I did usually ecited me too much, and sent me back to my bed, or made the dream seem less real.. like.. closing my eyes, and imagining the situation. Nothing was completely vivid, as far as I can remember, but I was aware enough to know part of me was dreaming, and the otrher part was still in my bed. ^^; So... Any tips? ^^

Congrats! Usually, with experience, LDs become more controllable, vivid, and you learn to do some pretty cool things. I'd just say to keep trying and working hard!

I'm in the same boat as you, kyetkun.

I've had two lucid dreams in my history of attempting to have them. So far, neither of them has lasted longer than 10-20 seconds. In addition, neither of them has been as vivid as some of my normal non-lucid dreams. I'm just going to keep practicing having them and from now on i'm going to try looking at details. I hear some people say that getting down and grabbing at the carpet in a lucid dream helps you focus and helps the dream become more vivid. I'm going to try that.

But on top of that, I think I'm going to try to do some stereotypical left-brain stuff. I'm going to try to do some basic arithmetic. I'll try to do something like add 35 + 18. Maybe that will wake up the objective part of my brain.

      Good luck!
      Keep it up!

I’ve had that experience where you’re sorta lucid but your dream is not as vivid as you would like. Also where you’re lucid but you can feel it slipping away. A couple of things that worked for me:

      1. If I was starting to lose lucidity I would just start spinning, and it never failed to bring me right back!

      2. When my dream was lucid but not very vivid, it helped to touch things in my dream world--just whatever happened to be close by.

      3. One of the things that helped (with both cases) is preparing in advance. So I set my intention to say ‘more lucidity’ whenever I felt I was becoming non-lucid or whenever my dream was not as clear and vivid as I wanted it to be. That took some time to do, but it was well worth the effort!

Congratulations! Your lucidity will get better as your practise awareness and get more used to being in the dream. Taking things slowly without panicking is definitely quite important! Keep it up
