Trouble finding a good technique

I'm pretty knew to lucid dreaming (had two so far) and I'm having trouble finding a good technique to become lucid. My first lucid dream I just randomly had a week after finding out about lucid dreams. I didn't even do anything except read about lucid dreaming. My second was when I just repeated mantras before going to sleep and became lucid. Ever since my second (about a week ago) I hadn't had any lucid dreams. I am still a bit confused how to do some techniques. I really don't want to do the one where you wake up and go back to sleep because I have trouble going back to sleep after waking up. It usually takes up to two hours to go back to sleep and I wouldn't want that to effect the amount of hours I sleep. I'm currently trying the DILD method (found out about it today) but I want to know what else would work for me. Any suggestions?

I think you should have a quick read thorugh all the most common techniques out there and then just decide what suits you best. I think that DILDs are quite suitable for beginners. Once you chose one technique (or 2-3 depending on what you would like to do as a daytime practice and what you would like to do before sleep/ at night) I would highly recommend to stick with that technique for a while - and with a while I mean... more than one week :P
Personally I chose a slightly modified version/ combination of ADA, SAT and RRCs. Of course I do RCs on a regular basis as well. I also practice exercises from the Dream Yoga classes. At night before I go to bed I practice MILD and combine this with WBTB.

Well, your first 2 lucid dreams you got were not just out of the blue. They were a result of you thinking about LDing, perhaps even setting an intent by thinking "oh yeah, I'm gonna have that too", and you RCs.

RCs do lot more than just making you do RC in a dream. They also teach you awareness, when done properly.

Since your first 2 were due to this practice, which is basically MILD and DILD, I would recommend you continue with them. After you get some more lucids and gain more confidence in your ability, you may try a WILD. Also with any technique you try, I would recommend you start with the basic, classic form, before modifying it in any way.

Motivation and intent play a large role in lucid dreaming. Your first few lucid dreams always come from a massive motivation that new lucid dreamers have, try to stay motivated and lucid dreams will eventually come.

If you had lucid dreams only because you read about them its good, this is how i started lucid dreaming.

I would recommend you to keep it natural, if you can lucid dream without any techniques it is better for you. However keep doing RC's, they will raise you awareness level. Once you will start lucid dream very often - you wont be able to quit reality checks, they will be part of you. Why? because from my experience, natural lucid dreams without any techniques are much more vivid then the ones that you get when forcing your self to lucid dream.

As for now, you need to increase your awareness in waking life, it will also increase your chances to get lucid in your dream.

That's so true for me. Whenever I try to force myself to lucid dream I never have a lucid dream. After my second lucid dream I stopped doing that "technique" and tried to DILD with no success. I think I'll stick with natural lucid dreams. Thanks!

How long have you been practicing? A similar thing happened to me, where I had maybe two lucids in the first month from DILD, then for a month I got nothing while doing MILD. Then, suddenly, I had several more, including one that was actually pretty good, because of MILD.
MILD is basically a boost to your chances of having a DILD, so it isn't an entirely different technique from DILD.
