I know that Stephen LaBerge did something like this when he did his dissertation study at Stanford University - he would plot his LD frequency on a diagram and it is pretty obvious that it was a general increase over the three years.
Have you ever done something like this?
In that case, how much did it afect your motivation?
I consider trying this myself tmorrow morning, and try to keep at it every day.
I think I might actually do this - I'm curious as to my own frequency.
I have had a general idea becuase of my log though I like the idea of plotting it more precisely. I can see that noticing an increase could improve motivation so seeing it could probably be a good thing, I know I've been getting more frequent the last few months.
But I wonder how to plot data too. I had 3 sessions of lucidity last night with FA's inbetween them, does that count as 3 or 1? It was effectively all the same dream changing scenes. I do this regulary, have a few lucids together in the same REM peroid. And not to mention some LD's are much stronger than others. I may have 3 in one night not be as long or as good as 1 on a different night.
I like the idea, but what if the frequency decreases? then I would be unmotivated, because it is anything but consistent in these early days.

My DJ had my whole statistics since I started LDing, month by month. I had non lucids on there for a while, but after it got to 4+ dreams a night I stopped. LDs are posted there every time that I LD though.
I am goal driven (you will see if you look at my DJ system), and seeing something like 47 in one month gives me strong motivation the next month to get more. Normally I have issues with one month high! one month normal. One month high! one month normal. :P A weird trend. I think that I am going to put my original goals that I have in my goal journal (don't keep one anymore) and post the LDs that I accomplished them in. :P should be fun to do. Something for me to do tomorrow if I finish studying early.
My original goal journal had an amount per six days that I wanted to LD and dream. I made hard goals, but reasonable ones. I would be further now if I kept that up. Might have to do that again. With or without DJing... meh, I don't want to, but I need to LD more... frustrated...
Started with easy goals like "1 dream a nigh for a six day period" then "no nights without a dream" then "two dreams a night". Lucids started at 1/6 daay period for a month and an extra one for one of them (5 in a month), and then moved to one in every six day period. and so on and so forth.
Look at LaBerge's reported number of dreams - he stayed at around 4 or 5 lucid dreams per month the first six months, then the seventh month it suddenly dropped to 1 lucid dream that whole month.Quote:

You should expect occasional drops like that, they are completely natural. :)
