When I was in the U.S. Coast Guard, we used red lights at night, because you retain your night vision with red lights. Red lights do not shock the system light like white lights, and also is easier on the mind and general restfulness. Try using a red light instead of white when you WBTB. (An incandescent or LED, not fluorescent)
Also, when you wake in the morning, and jot down notes, try and use a red light, because it may help you stay in a more restful state.
Sounds like a good idea, i'll put my red t-shirt on the lamp and see how that goes :D
For a moment I thought WTBTB was some new technique I didn't know about.
Very intriguing - might have to cover some 'bulbs with a red shirt or something.
I would love to try less conventional ways to wake up yourself for WBTB, now adding this red light to the list I got:
- Vibration watch
- Heat (wear more cloth than you should at night and you'll wake up in the middle of the night)
- cat (danger of being killed while asleep since my cat likes to sleep over my face)
Gonna try to find some app for iphone with red light ;)
Very nice idea, I'll definitely try this! I usually use my phone as my light, so I wonder if changing my screensaver to red will do anything. <:

You could just use water based spray paint and coat a light bulb with it. That's how they make colored lightbulbs anyway.
Or You could use a custom lamp shade. I made one out of cardboard (for DJ, it's not for long periods of time so no fire hazard). Slap a red plastic foil (think old school 3D glasses) on it and presto! Red light.
Or move to the red light district :shadewink:
