Rejected Lucidity
Ok so this morning I was dreaming about some war theme (BF2 style) and I was runnin near this body of water and the enemy was near and somehow I died.
Anyway, after that I kind of opened my eyes because my mom was in the room talking to my brother, and then went back into the dream.
Then realizing I was just awake and now im in a dream I said to myself "Im dreaming"
and then all of a sudden I got zapped like crazy (best way to describe it would be like when Patrick Swayzee moved objects in Ghost) and my eyes opened.
I tried this again and said "Im dreaming", the same zap happened and I woke up.
Why? This sucks :(

I'd say you were dreaming very lightly, and the lucidity realization kicked off some vibrations. Next time it happens, try to relax through the 'zap'... might be on your way to a WILD there.
-
Hm. Then why did it happen only when I said "Im dreaming"?
-
I dont know if your 'zap' is anything like I experience sometimes when I am just entering a dream . I would describe it like a jolt or electric shock as if something just passed through my brain .It makes my body suddenly twitch and wakes me . I dont know what this is does anyone else experience it ?
-
No, this is the first time Ive experienced it.
It happened right after I said to myself "Im dreaming".

Although this could be just those vibrations beginning, if it's a sudden jolt, then it's probably something called a myoclonic jerk. I used to get those all the time falling asleep in class. My whole desk would jump and I got to be the center of attention for a moment! It's something like an all-over body/mind hiccup.
-
It's always different for everyone, but I find that if I try to WILD with a dream, I'll feel the vibrations right away, like I get kicked out into vibrations, and then I try to keep it going. I just thought this might be similar for you. If I decide I'm dreaming in a pretty deep state, it'll be fine, but if it's just shallow dreaming (like, on the edge of wakefulness), I'll easily get the zap effect. I recently woke up from a nightmare (haven't had one of those in a while hehe) and I could still feel the tingling disappearing.
-
I dont think it was a myoclonic jerk. I didnt feel it in my body, just inside my dream and in my head, and after I woke up I didnt feel anything either.

I get this when something awful happens in my ND. Like, a person being hit by a car, getting ripped apart by a train, just crazy stuff. Usually freezes me in my dream, and I get this 'shock' in my entire body. Then I wake up

Dear Zoggy,
Consider yourself lucky that your Higher Consciousness takes as much interest in you that it actively protects you from Lucidity. Consider that many people do irreparable harm to their Dreaming by using Lucidity as a tool of destruction against all honest Dream Content. This won't be your problem.
Maybe if you make out a Contract with your Higher Consciousness that you will only use Lucidity under limited conditions, using your intuition to discern what the Higher Consciousness might object to most. Create for yourself a Lucid Dream Checklist, presenting to your Higher Consciousness exactly what you plan to do when you become Lucid. That would give your Higher Consciousness a chance to mitigate the damage you would do to your dreaming by allowing it to create a Lucid Dream which you will feel less inclined to tamper with.
I have Lucid Dreams, and my Higher Consciousness does not offer up obstructions or false awakenings. But, then again, usually all I do with Lucidity is use it as an opportunity to conduct the activities listed on my Lucid Dream Checklist, which nearly always include "Discontinue present Dream Activity and excuse one's self and leave the room or scene; intone and Aum and levitate up into the air; focus upon the hands to discern present state of Spiritual Body and regulate breathing for Lucid Dreaming..." I no longer levitate and fly for the mere fun of it, but allow a brief flight to land me in the Special Dream Scene that my Higher Consciousness had created for this particular Lucid Dream Checklist. My idea is to act in Partnership with the Higher Mind, and NOT to simply go in to disrupt and defeat all valid Dream Content.

I see.
So no sex in dreams is what you're saying?
Did i tell you the time when I was about to do it with Britney Spears and she turned into a toaster?

Hey guys about the jolt that goes through your head when you ask yourself "am I dreaming", I get the exact same feeling and would actually like it if it didnt wake me up right before i become lucid. I havnt had and lucid dreams yet but the awaking jolt has happened 2 or 3 times. I think I get too excited
-
I don't know about you, but I always get jolts in my hands.
-
Had an awesome lucid dream this morning, I was confident and the jolt went through me and I remained lucid.

I think the "jolt" or "electrical current" going through your body when you pass into a lucid dream or wake suddenly could be the feeling of the numbness that your body experiences when you are asleep. Sometimes when I enter a lucid dream I can feel the edge blur between reality and the dream, and I can feel the current (it makes me a little dizzy actually). I find the best way to deal with it is to remain calm and ride it out, as complete control should follow it almost immediately.
