I don't know any apps but you can use DILD, just go to sleep that's all. And yeaaahhh :D Sorry if this isn't helpful but I think that's what you mean by "what lucid dreaming technique can you do going straight to bed without having to wake up in the middle of the night?"
You can do MILD
You can do every technique before going to bed. It depends, every technique can work on some people without waking up at night, while others can't induce lucid dream (except DILD) without waking up. So, I believe, that WILD and other techniques can work this time, it just depends on you. :)
One pretty effective way is to just firmly tell yourself that you are going to recognize that you are dreaming, then keep repeating that intention to yourself as you fall asleep.
