Trying to Fall Asleep with Eyes Open - Any Experiences?

Once in a while I come across something I didn't hear yet - and I don't know, if it is good for anything, either - there's not so much else on here:

I would be very surprised if I was able to do this, regardless of how tired I feel. If I could keep my eyes open I am sure I would either stay awake or fall asleep with my eyes closed. And anyway, being so tired that I fall asleep as soon as I hit the bed isn't my idea of fun. I prefer to watch myself slowly drop off to sleep.

It sounds like something that would work for those that wake up in the middle of the night.

Have to agree with Bobblehat, though - it is more entertaining to feel yourself drop into sleep than just suddenly crash.

I think it might work if you had a SUPER dark room with no light at all. Also have you heard of reverse blinking? You blink when you would not normally blink and that can quickly bring on trance

I've had a lot of experience being ridiculously tired. Most of the time I'm not laying down to sleep (unfortunately), but if I don't fidget or move around to stay awake (which only works short term btw), what I've noticed is my eyes get out of sync with each other - one will still be on task, but the other one takes conscious effort to bring back on target. If I let it go, a dream immediately appears to my mind, but since I'm not in bed, but sitting/stading/riding a bicycle/etc, I am immediately woken up by my head falling as my neck muscles relax, so the dream is very short lived - just long enough for one moment like catching a frisbee.

I should go to bed now...

I get this all the time in my work. I work in a library so cause it's so I'm always almost fallng asleep, especially when the kids have kept me away, just like Schmaven. I think the idea OP posted sounds a bit extreme, I think it'd annoy me and I'd just not get to sleep.

Ha! Thanks - now I think, I am understanding my own OP!
I've had multiple times, when I had to be in a dark room, 7:00 am and after a full night-shift (or just being tired, too), looking at projected pictures and listening to tired people droning on about them.
So many times - first double-vision and then I started to dream something, while being conscious of that fact - mostly half here half there feelings. Followed by ripping my head up and forcing my eyes open and dispelling the dreamlets.

It's been a long while - but I had that regularly - just LDing wasn't on my mind back then - despite having re-learned it some 10 years earlier. It was a pest, and I hoped nobody notices - but I noticed it happen to other people..:D
Now I know, it's a possibility to WILD and could handle it such - but thing is - if I wouldn't have to handle reality at that moment - I'd be sleeping and not in such a state.
