Question Possible RC for people who play a lot of games?

First let me explain why, and then i will explain how.

Why: My clearest dream sign is anything that has anything to do with games/gaming. As a result in many of my dreams it feels like i am in a game. I wanted to create a personal RC that would work great with me. So i thought to myself: ''what is common in my dreams, AND games?''. The answer was simple; a menu. By trying to ''summon'' a menu, this has 2 amazing feautures. 1: Seems like it could be a very good RC for attaining lucidity. 2: This can be used in a dream to help you do specific actions while lucid.

How: I was thinking you swiping your middle and index finger downwards, while visualizing a menu appearing in front of you. My menu would have atleast 4 buttons, those being: Resume dream, Summon DC, Change dream location and stabilize dream.

Could this be a valid RC? Sorry for the terrible formatting, i am still new to this.

An effective reality check should be an action that you can do at any time. And what if you don't dream about video games? Then the thought of a menu might not be as effective. But I am not you so I can't decide for you. Try it and see if it works. If you got a theory test it!

However just my opinion, If I were you, since you have to many dreams about video games, I would say this sentence out loud as I go to bed:

"I AM AWARE THAT I AM DREAMING WHEN I SEE VIDEO GAMES"

Just say it once. And if this continues to be your dream sign eventually you will start to associate video games and such with this mantra.

Keep a dream journal and track your progress. If you want an example of how this progress might look like, check other peoples dream journals and get inspired.

Here is mine: Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views - Mastering Consistency - Dream Journals

      Good luck!

Perhaps you could do one of the tried-and-true RCs while playing video games, eg. nose plug or counting fingers.
Toilets are a really common dream sign for me, so I have made it a habit to do a nose plug reality check whenever I use the toilet, and I've become lucid many times as a result.

I already have a RC which uses some ''tried-and-true'' RC's, what i was wondering was if i could substitue one of them for my own, and
if you think this could be effective?

You could always try it and see!
I personally think that the simpler the RC, the better.
It should be something with a really obvious yes/no answer, eg. Can I breathe while my nose is blocked? No = awake. Yes = dreaming.
There are many more variables with your idea, because it's not just limited to two simple outcomes.

Something else to keep in mind is that you really need to believe it's possible that you're dreaming (and therefore, that the world may behave unusually), even if you feel certain that you're awake.
For example, take the RC where you try to push your finger through your palm... You really need to believe that it's possible, and try to visualise this happening as you perform the RC.
For me, this RC is not effective, because I find it really hard to convince myself that my hand is not solid, especially when I'm sure that I'm awake. This belief has transferred into my dreams before and the RC has been unsuccessful (meaning, it behaved as it would in waking life, despite the fact that I was dreaming.)

So, have a think about whether you can really convince yourself that a 'dream menu' will pop up when you swipe your fingers, even when you think you're awake. If you can't, then your mind may not produce that result when you're dreaming, either.

Thanks, i'll take this into consideration. And if i may not seem too intrusive, how do you you RC?

      I have two favourite RCs:

The nose plug RC has been the most reliable for me by far. (I've been inducing LDs for 7 years, and there have only been about 2 occasions when a nose plug has not worked as intended.)

Checking my hands for any abnormalities is my second choice (specifically, counting my fingers and checking for any fuzziness/inability to focus.) I sometimes do this as a backup RC when I'm not feeling confident about the first, or I use it at times when I need a more discreet RC (like in the middle of a conversation with a muggle.)

I have associated RCs with lots of things in my everyday life: going to the toilet, eating, waking up, going to bed, etc. I also RC any time I'm feeling stressed or awkward, because I get those feelings much more often in dreams than I do in waking life.

In dreams, I generally just use RCs to confirm lucidity when I already suspect it, but there are certain things, like going to the toilet and waking up (false awakenings) where RCs often trigger lucidity.

Good luck, let us know how you go!
