I occasionally combine meditation with my Mantra, but it seems to screw with my concentration as well, and it also seems to have little effect on how effective the autosuggestion is in inducing lucid dreams. On paper you would think that it would be a good idea; your mind is clear and your Mantra could be more directed toward your subconscious. But that's just my personal experience. Maybe another user knows of a better way to do this.
But I still think meditation is helpful for lucid dreaming. In being mindful and developing your ability to focus, you are becoming more aware of your surroundings and actions and more able to concentrate when you otherwise could not. I find that meditation helps my dreams be less sludgy and incongruent. I've seen boosts in my recall as well.
