1. DJ's are optional, some find commiting to a DJ to be helpful and others don't really depend on one. If it feels best for you to start one then you're most likely correct.
2. DILD, but it's hard to say what is the best technique since people interpret situations with their awareness differently. I'd honestly would experiment or form a combination of skills on your own to conclude what is best for yourself. If you're serious about LDing, utilize the techniques here as an idea for your own. Brain storming would be useful in this case as how you interpret your dream should be applied also to your own awareness. This is why I am almost certain this is what you need in order to LD. Also to give you examples of what I mean, using music to induce LD's or simply doing math problems on a work sheet. My point is that you shouldn't limit your options, your dreams are boundless and the same can be applied to how or what you interpret. Use anything and everything in waking life, think of it as a playground. Because even a simple quarter can gurantee you an LD.
3. No, sleep anyway you like as long as it doesn't hinder you from going unconscious. (Unless the techniques you're using has an advantage in that predicament)
