Vibrations vs "waves", Sharing my SP observations

Wanted to share my little SP experiment and ask a few questions. I had always experienced vibrations before LD/SP. What I mean by "vibrations" is "high frequency oscillation feeling". Yesterday I decided to have fun between wakefulness and sleep and experiment as I always do. I was in a curious and relaxed state of mind. Instead of strong vibrations, I felt waves. By "waves" I mean "very low frequency oscillation feeling" And discovered that I could control these sensations with my thoughts. I made myself relax more and more and enjoy what's happening as much as possible. Soon, my whole body became "the wave". It can be described as "floating on the sea on a windy day", but a better description would be "being the sea itself on a windy day". I entered SP with ease. For the first time, I enjoyed the "entering part" more than the LD and SP. In the beginning (not dreaming yet, decided to observe SP) I checked my breathing. I must have been taking very slow and shallow breaths, it felt like no breathing was present. So I decided to take a deep breath. I did take a breath but it was not a deep one, I couldn't (why?). Then, I wanted to try to open my eyes for a second and shut them again to see if one can open their eyes during SP. Found out I could open them and shut them (is this possible during SP? any experiences?). The rest is lucid dreaming.

You might want to check this thread (Sleep Paralysis Explained), because it doesn't seem you experience sleep paralysis, but simply all the natural occurences of falling asleep while staying above the threshold of consciousness ;)

Thanks Zoth for the link! I noticed I don't have much information on sleep paralysis and got a lot of things to learn. :)

Wow, thank you for sharing that experience figurefly, that's very interesting. I often experience a feeling of high frequency oscillations when I'm falling asleep, but it's never occurred to me to try to control them. Strange, since I usually try to control every waking life hallucination I ever have. I'm definitely going to try this tonight, I have a really good feeling about your idea. :)

I've also had some weird experiences lately with opening my eyes during REM atonia, at least I think I did. I remember being asleep and paralyzed, then suddenly seeing my room, but very blurry. I had tried to move my body but only my dream body would flail around while the image was completely static. It's been happening quite a few times in the last couple weeks, sometimes when I'm trying to WILD/DEILD and the dream has already started somewhat, I want to video record myself sleeping so I can find out if I'm really opening my eyes or just dreaming that I am. :cheeky:

I had a pretty cool experience when opening my eyes during WILD sensations.

Usually I'll just lay there with my eyes closed as I feel the vibrations, humming in my ears and floating/flying sensations until they stop, then I'll open my eyes and be Lucid.
This time though I opened my eyes to see if I would see the dark presence people often talk of.

As I did I was already in a Lucid Dream but I've never had one anything like it before or since.
I was sitting on my bed and a strong wind was blasting me, a shirt I was wearing (in the Lucid) was really flapping behind me.
All my bedroom walls were glowing with fluorescent green and purple energies, like bright lines of light moving up and down them and along the floor.

I got up, walked over to my window and pulled the curtains open, I live next to a field and have two big trees opposite and the trees were also filled with these moving lines of bright, fluorescent green energy and the fields were glowing in the purple.

It was really beautiful and like I say, never had another like it.


Having this experience made me think that when I go through WILD sensations believing I'm awake and entering a Dream, I'm often already Dreaming.
