help with simple FA to OBE

Hi, its me ... again, been here a lot lately :-)

So ive been practising ssild and its looking good. SSILD claims to produce many false awakenings and of this im sure. Several times i will find myself lying 'awake' in the early hours after ssild'ing. Now as i lay there eyes closes i am sometimes unaware if i have just woken up or if i have been lying there 'awake' for a while, i just seem to find myself lying there awake in the middle of the night.

Now im sure that some of these could very well be false awakenings. This is my problem though. Because these possible false awakenings are me lying in bed with eyes closed, i am unsure how to take advantage of them/ I have in the past simply 'got up' out of the bed and found myself in an 'obe' which i 'converted' into a lucid dream by flying like superman through the window.

What happens in most cases is as i lay there i am 'afraid' to do a reality check such as plugging the nose because i am worried that i will use my physical body and wake up for real. I sometimes try to roll out without moving the physical body but nothing happens

I guess im asking what would be the best thing to do in a possible false awakening when still laying in bed with eyes closed to minimize the risk of waking oneself up to maximizing getting an obe / lucid dream?

Don't be afraid to do a nose plug. You won't move your real body if you're dreaming because your body is paralyzed.

If you don't want to move, you can also try to see your room through your closed eyelids as a reality check.

Hi dolphine, thanks for the quick reply. This may sound a bit dumb :-/ but how do i see my room through closed eyelids? Do i open my eyes? wouldn't my real eyes open instead?

No, you don't open your eyes. You simply imagine what you're trying to see. If you're dreaming, this should cause a dream scene to fade into view. Dreams are completely imagined, so by imagining something, you're constructing the content of the dream itself.

What you are looking for my friend is a movement free reality check. ;)

Here is my take on it:

I have experienced the false awakenings so many times now that I know how my awareness and mind feels when I am in one (well most of the time....). But what I usually do is that I just visualize something, ANYTHING. If you are close to a dream or in a dream this will work as a transition. I visualize myself moving and if I feel the movement I know it's ok to just get up as if using my real muscles.

So the visualization in itself is the movement free reality check, because you visualize any type of movement, and if you feel it, you are close to a dream or already dreaming. Most of the time you are actually already dreaming, so if you want a quick transition you should get out of bed as soon as you feel the change in your awareness or if you want to be a little more safe you can just perform a normal reality check first.

Another thing you can do is to just visualize yourself having your body in a different angle than it actually is, like if you are laying on your side imagine laying on your stomach and so on. It sounds difficult to imagine how to do that right now (I can't even imagine it) but that's the point! When your awareness is close to a dream state this type of visualization is really easy to understand and almost intuitive.

And a third thing you can do (which is my favorite) is to just visualize yourself in a different place, and again IF you are close to a dream then you will literally see the dream form infront of you. It's an amazing experience. But if you are in a dream already this sometimes fails and you lay in a dream trying to transition, which is why I prefer the sleeping-posture visualization approach.

What I describe above is what I am actively practising right now, because I have tons of FA:s.

Thanks Mastermind, i like the idea of first trying to transition to another scene and failing that to then imagine the body in a different positions. You say that you have tons of false awakening (lucky you!) :-) What daily / nightly routine do you have to induce these? What techniques do you use at night?

I give lots of descriptions and explanations of what I do in my Dream Journal.

But basically I am meditating and channeling sexual energy during the day for focused awareness.

Recall dreams and use intent to become aware of my dreams.

And then I use the idea of actively focusing on activating the dormant critical center of my brain through awakenings in the late morning.

And the result is false awakenings and high degrees of awareness in my dreams.
