Meddling with SSILD! :-/

Hi guys, so ive been practising SSILD 2 -3 times every night using wbtb which has produced 3 DILDS in 3 weeks so a good start. I read a recent technique called v-mild where you imaging yourself in a room / scene with someone and they tell you to do a reality check, you comply and it works, you thank the person and then you replay the scene in your head again and again until you fall asleep. Then hopefully when you dream that scenario will play out and you can become lucid from it.

Last night i imagined a similar thing as i drifted to sleep. What actually happened is that instead of that scene playing out, i did have a dream with that person in it and it was close to where i imagined the incubated scene but when she spoke to me she didnt mention reality checks so its kinda successfull in that the incubated scene happened to some degree.

Anyways i was thinking of combing SSILD with VILD. This is what i would do. At the end of each SSILD cycle i will picture a scene where this person tells me im dreaming and urges me to do a reality check, i comply and thank her. I then complete the next SSILD cycle and so on so at the end of the 4 SSILD cycles i have imagined my 'incubated' scene 4 times - i would then fall asleep as instructed in the SSILD tutorial

Now the problem :-/ In the SSILD tutorial it states to NOT mix in any other techniques with SSILD due to the fragile conditioning that SSILD produces and that it would be detrimental to SSILD success

This leads me to question how rigid we are in our approach to experimenting with mix matching techniques and trying new things

Am i wasting my time with the above method, should i strictly stick to SSILD instructions. I dont want to waste weeks on something thats not going to work and hopefully some members on this forum have had success with mixing other techniques into SSILD to contradict cosic.irons advice

Hy!I have never heard about VILD,neither I understood your instruction of it.Put a link to a method and i will
check it out.

I dont know what are you asking to me?You already have 2-3 Dild-s every night.If it works for you,why change
your method.If you think your dream is going to be more vivid or better by changing to another dild based method,
it isnt going to be better.Only way to have better dreams is WILD method.Many people dont practice Wild 'cause
they are scared.And that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard.

I'm not offending you in any way,I'm just stating facts.

I read that you have 2-3 dilds with SSILD,you can try mixing techniques or try some new techniques.Just try new
techniques,and you will find something for you.

Apparently if you combine SSILD with any other techniques/methods it causes false awakenings. I do not know much but I think that combining an SSILD with a VILD will only keep on producing these false awakenings. Unless you know your dreaming every time you have an FA, I would just stick to only doing the SSILD with the WBTB.

Ive never understood the animosity towards false awakenings - they are awesome. You simple stand up, reality check then fly out the window into dragon mountain and have a lucid dream. My best lucid dreams have begun from false awakenings. I always always always reality check whenever i wake up and so i tend to catch all false awakenings.

I think it could work but ssild seems to be very good for you already. You can do a few cycles and then do VILD to get a better feeling for the visualization. And when you do VILD really try to imagine that you are becoming lucid and imagine the feeling of becoming lucid in this dream. Personally I would recommend practising SSILD to get better at it.

I agree with you Ezzolucid. If you have a false awakening, it means your technique worked. You are in non-physical reality. Fly out the window or teleport to where you want to go. You should actually have more conscious awareness in a false awakening than a standard lucid dream. I'll take a false awakening all day long. Good to see you experimenting.

Mate122. Ezzolucid said he does SSILD 2-3 times a night.....He's only produced 3 DILDs in 3 weeks, which is good, but not the 2-3 per night you stated. He is using SSILD as his preferred technique with WBTB. You just had a misread of his first post. I think he would be thrilled if 2-3/night were indeed the case. Unless I'm the one confused, Ezzolucid, lol.

Oh yes, 2-3 night ... i wish! lol I SSILD as much as I can and the frequency is increasing when combined with daily mindfulness. THere just seems to be missed opportunities when sticking strictly to the technique of SSILD with no room to experiment.

On the 'seeing' step its seems only natural to try a short dream incubation for a few seconds or during the 'touch' step, a MILD affirmation could be added and if its real late in the night / early morning then why not keep doing the cycles until a WILD happens (after all, thats exactly what Michael Ragugas successful direct method is)

It would be great if more people experimented with SSILD and posted their results, maybe we could find a really great flexible technique that suits everyone!
