Take mushrooms, peyote, or flood Calea zacatechichi, Synaptolepis kirkii, Silene capensis. Ibogaine!
Maybe the OP should have asked this question instead:
Why are there no orthodox methods for inducing lucidity?
We all seem to become lucid in our own ways, I think, only drawing bits from mainline techniques like MILD and WBTB, popping pills like gallantamine (or perhaps Dthoughts lengthier list above), or using EILD devices, and then using our personal recipes to find the best path to the dream that works for us. Any orthodoxy of techniques tends to fade as people discover that doing exactly what was written in the guides rarely works for them... and this is after they have already discovered that every guide seems to be different, so there really hasn't been any orthodoxy established in the "official" lexicon of LD'ing.
Besides all that, I think that once you've properly prepared your mind to be lucid, the technique does not matter, orthodox or not.
WILD and DILD are not techniques, BTW, but descriptors of the two possible transitions to lucidity: either from wake to sleep to dream without losing waking-life self-awareness (WILD), or moving from non-lucidity to lucidity during a dream (DILD). Since they are the transitions themselves, they do not do any inducing.
To have someone whisper in your ears « You are dreaming» !
