Last night i wrote in my dream journal: "Tonight i will lucid dream. I will dream. I will rember my dream".
Then i was in a dream where i may've been lucid, the thing is i was dreaming that i was dreaming being lucid if you get me. I know it wasn't a normal dream because after a certain point, my dream dream ended and my "non-lucid" dream carried on. And i remembered it all :D Was i lucid, or was it just a normal dream about dreaming i'm lucid?
Sounds to me like it wasalso known as an ULD (unaware lucid dream) where you seem to have all the same abilities as a lucid dreamer except you are not fully aware you are dreaming.Quote:

Does that mean you just watch a dream about being lucid without having any control what so ever? o.O
To be honest with you i'm not sure. I remember doing loads of silly things without waking up o_O Shall i mark this as an LD or not?

No, this was not a LD. It was an ULD.
You did not control your dream within the dreamstate. You did, however, manipulate it prior to the dreamstate, which is very good.
Next time you write an affirmation in your Journal - also write down what object or dreamsign you will see to cause LD.
Such as (example) :
"Tonight I will Lucid Dream. I will Dream. I will remember my Dream....I will dream of myself standing in front of a mirror. When I look in the mirror, I will become perfectly Lucid."

I don't think ULD is a useable term.
Lucidity is another way of saying awareness, or clarity.
And an "Unaware Aware Dream" just seems to be a confusing way of saying Non-Lucid dream.
What you had, I think, was a non-lucid dream in which you were able to do the things You normally do when you're lucid. Keep in mind, many people who have never had a lucid dream do things like fly and breathe under water and metaphysical stuff like that, all the time, they simply don't know that they are dreaming. This is not dreaming of being lucid, this is dreaming about things you can't normally do in real life. When you say your "Dream Dream" ended, what do you mean? Do you mean you were aware that you were dreaming, and slipped out of awareness, or that you were doing crazy, metaphysical stuff, and then it all of a sudden went back to something more normal? What you Do in your dreams has nothing to do with whether or not you are lucid. Lucidity is a state of mind. A state of awareness. If you are awake and lucid, you are aware of where you are, and your perception of "self," if you are lucid dreaming, you are aware you are in your own dream. Nothing more. What you Do with that knowledge is up to you, but doesn't change whether or not you are lucid. :wink:

It does a little. What I mean by dream dream ending is as follows: In my dream (non lucid) i fell asleep. The "asleep" dream i was having was a lucid one if you get me. Then the dream dream ended then i was back to a regular dream :shock:
At any point in time, did you KNOW that you were dreaming, beyond any sort of doubt? Whether it was your first or second dream? If you did, at any time, you were lucid. If you didn't, you weren't. If you fall asleep while dreaming, and have another dream, unless you Know you're dreaming (reguardless of what you're doing) you're not lucid. I don't think your consciousness can be in two different states at one time (which is why schizophrenics change personalities instead of blending, from what I understand) So if you were dreaming non lucidly, and you went to sleep and woke up in another dream, if you Know that this second dream is a dream, you are lucid. I would think it would take a higher level of lucidity to know that it was a secondary dream (granted there is such thing as a dream inside of the mind of an already dreaming person, or if it is just your consciousness switching to a different scenario after falling asleep in your dream. Get me?) So yes, in your second dream, if you knew that that was a dream, and it was all in your head, and wasn't happening to you in the waking world, you were lucid dreaming. If that wasn't the case, I'd have to say no. But then again, that is just My understanding of lucidity, but I think it is accurate.
I didn't conciously know i was dreaming at any stage as far as i remember. So no LD there ;_;

A lot of times I will be having the most crazy, off the wall dreams, and nothing that happens in the dream with make me realize that I'm dreaming. When I wake up, I'm like..."Greg....you're stupid." lol.
Wow i ULD all the time didnt know there was a word for it.
Sometimes I'll have control in my dreams but I don't realize I'm dreaming. I'll just think it's real and that I actually have these cool powers that let me beat up bad stuff and jump really high into the air and fly, etc.
My guess is this isn't lucid because I'm not aware that I am dreaming but it's still cool because I have control even though I think it's real. It's kind of odd I guess. But is this an ULD?
So far I haven't had any success intentionally inducing an LD (have had them in the past) but my dream recall has gotten much better in the past week since discovering this site.
ULD is a bad term, I say this because there have been quite a few times I was in an LD and considered it real life, yet still controlling it from the inside. So you can say I wasn't lucid, yet I still knew everything was going on and I was able to control it all.
I beleive this may be one of the highest levels of LDing because everything is so vivid that the line blurs and you slip into a second reality without even thinking its a dream. Of course most times you shrug this off and the dream fades, but there are times when you go into a LD that is so vivid that you forget about your real life and go into the reality of the LD.
Call it what you will, but there is no way you can be unaware while lucid, it is an oxymoron. You can however be aware that you are lucid with a false sense of reality.
I'd also like to point out that YOU CAN HAVE A LUCID DREAM INSIDE A NON-LUCID DREAM!!! It happens to me a crapload of times where i'll be trying to LD inside of a dream and its like doing a WILD, but much easier. You can be aware that is a lucid dream and not aware of you doing the act to go into it. In this situation its like a lead-in to a LD.
You could also have the above situation happen where you are lucid, you think its real, and you WILD while inside of a LD to an LD that you know is a dream.
I'm sorry if I sound confusing, but I wanted to hit all the different levels.

Last night i went to bed not tired, so i thought i'd do a WILD on the off-chance. I counted down from 100 to 1, back up to 100 and down again and got to the stage where your heart beats like a pneumatic drill. Then i stopped and a few mins later tried again. I got to the stage where the hypnagogic (spelling?) images came to life, but for a split second they were thousands of tea bag boxes :shock:
Oh, I do. The awareness that one is dreaming may be considered lucidity, but I'll take it to another level and say that ANY time you are aware of yourself you are lucid, whether or not you consider it a dream.Quote:

However, I am not the sort of person that will be tied down to a textbook definition, I believe this could also fit the catagory of lucid dream. The oddity on it is that the mind usually dismisses stuff it considers reality, while saving awareness when it knows it is unreality. It makes it much rarer then a lucid dream, and because of that extra loss of awareness of physical self, realism can go to the next level in the dream. When I spoke of the LD's i got stuck in for long periods of "dream time", they fell under this catagory because loss of awareness on the phsyical plane can result in loss of awareness on time.
Invent a word, do what you will.. but unless you beleive in strict literal meaning everywhere, i think that labeling this experiance a "lucid dream" is not totally out of line.
It seems like a lucid dream to me. I mean a lucid dream is where one is aware that they are dreaming. I'll try to say this simple because I was confusing myself as I thought it out.
I am dreaming (Real me)
I dream of myself (dreamself)
The dreamself is really the real me too, after all its just the subconcious me, right? I mean at some level the sub. directs our real selves too...so the dream me, being my subconcious me, would be like the real me minus concious...right?
But if the dream me is lucid, that means my concious has to be working, that's how the dream me is aware.
So if the dream me is aware, that means my concious is aware, and since the dream me and real me are the same, then wouldn't I be lucid too?
I dont think that makes as much sense outside of my head, but I'll post it anyways. I don't know I could be waaaay off here, I mean I did fail the logic portion of my Theory of Knowledge class...

What do you call it if you know you have control, but don't quite realize it's a dream? For example in some dreams I somehow know I can't be hurt, and I know I can teleport or make things appear, etc.. - I know that I can do all these LD things but I don't really know *why*. I know in real life I'm not supposed to be able to do these things but never really cross the line at which I realize... "hey, it's a dream". It's really annoying when you wake up and go "D'oh! Of course it was nearly an LD".Quote:

Yeah, i agree that we need a new word. One that means that you have dream abilities but still not being lucid as such. maybe a SD - SuperDream, because often you have super powers in these sort of dreams. Not sure if SD has another meaning or not, can't think of one....
