Sure it is! As long as the fundamentals of falling asleep, being conscious during dreams, and associating dream consciousness with dreaming are good enough, nothing else needs to be done to lucid dream.
From my experience so far, the answer is No. Unless my intention was never as strong as I thought it was or others can have more powerful intention than me.
I did it a handful of times earlier in life when I learned a little more about LDing (but before I knew anything about RCs, WBTB, WILD, or any of that stuff).
Intention is very powerful, it's basically one of the pillars of lucid dreaming. So yes it can get you lucid in dreams. But you'll get lucid a lot more when you combine it with self-awareness and memory, a consistent attentive and reflective outlook on life experience.
Actually, the only way i can successfully is willing it. I have to ask myself also throughout the day..."Wait a minute, am i dreaming". There was one time i had a lucid, i was in a club, i became lucid, first thing i did was focus on clarity. Everything became 100% clear to the lights, the dirty wooden floor, the bar to my left, everything. I lost lucidity soon after.
