So much information, where to start?

There's so much information on the internet, especially here, about lucid dreaming, the induction techniques, ADA/Lucid Living, Reality checks, supplements, etc. All the info is great, but trying to get started is seriously difficult for a newbie like me when you just don't know where to begin. Does anybody have any advice that could possibly help me get a good LD daily routine going or even just what to focus most of my attention on (Induction techniques, ADA, etc?? With High School pretty much over i have a lot of free time, so any daily routine right now would be useful. Thanks to anyone who can offer some ideas :D

All of the info out there about inducing lucid dreams is either related to three things:

1.falling asleep
2.being aware of the dreams themselves
3.indentifying the dream as a dream while it's happening

If you're having any trouble with any of these three things, that is what you should work on.

It's relatively simple to decipher which fundamental information about becoming lucid is referring to. Sometimes you will find information that implies that being aware of the dream itself will automatically make you identify this awareness as a dream, but this isn't true. Also, when somebody mentions dream recall, they're referring to awareness of the dreams themselves.

Everything that is done during the day is designed to influence what you do while in bed, but it doesn't take all day to influence what you do while in bed.

You could improve at all three fundamentals just by intending to improve at them and maintaining this intention until it happens.

The first two things to start with are dream recall and reality checks. :)

Dream recall is important because you don't want to forget that you had a lucid dream in the first place! And plus, you want to learn to appreciate all of your non-lucid dreams as well. Most people will say that you need to learn how to remember four to five dreams every night, but I say that if you can remember one or two, so long as they are usually exceptionally detailed, then you're just fine.

You've probably already read about reality checks as well. Remember that the point of reality checks aren't themselves, but rather the awareness that they can spawn. That means that you need to do reality checks correctly, every time (you do RCs correctly by remembering to ask yourself whether you are dreaming, and genuinely believing that you are). I would say go ahead and start doing reality checks now, even if your recall is poor, because that will put you in the habit of doing them (and you might also have a lucid dream faster that way!).

After you've gotten pretty good at recalling your dreams, you can then really focus on your technique of choice. Most people point beginners towards the DILD technique, but you might be better off with WBTB or MILD. :)

Since you know that lucid dreaming is possible it might be enough for your lucid dreams to evolve, at least that worked for me. I suggest you to keep a Dream Journal, and write inside in first person present tense. Start with FILD technique. Do reality check durnig day. for these RCs, I strongly suggest you to use both push the finger through the palm and pinching your nose and trying to breathe. Pushing the finger can fail.
Also, whenever you are talking or reading about lucid dreaming, do a reality check. I learned it the hard way, through false awakenings.
