Q about symbolism/noise and HI

When I started exploring my dreams I used to pay much attention to dream symbolism and the meaning of my dreams but lately, If the understanding of a regular dream doesn't come naturally to me I don't ponder much about it (mostly due to lack of time and interest in other dream related things)
so I wonder, do any of you find it of importance to work with dream symbolism?
what about the symbolism in HI?

I'm asking this because I had a rather strange HI yesterday... it weren't the usual neon collors or open spaces/universe like 3D surroundings I usually see... this one was indoors, in a house and I was going up a ladder, well not climbing on it but rather floating. I desided to just go with it and see what happened, I didn't control what I saw. Then there was a hench to what appeared to be an attick, but once It opened, suddenly it closed again with a big bang as if someone else closed it. Sound of the bang woke me up completely and I was like wtf was that!
So I tried to relax again and go back to the same place, this time I saw a door but in front of it I saw all kinds of faces, some rather horrible and it felt like they were trying to stop me from opening the door.
It wasn't really a pleasant HI so I woke up again and next just went to sleep. I'm sure it was an HI, I wasn't dreaming and I could move.. I even scratched my nose so...

One other thing:
Lately It seems that, even though I'm currently not activly working on improving my dreamtime, that whenever I read something about the topic I also experience it the next night.
Like the faces I saw and usually don't see, I just read up about the "faces in the dark" kind of imagery and read ppl's stories...
A few days ago I read about a guy who said he sees puddles and raindrops, the next night I saw them to...
I read about someone who experiences electrick shocks while doozing off... next night, while I was just trying to sleep, I felt an electric shock going through my head with a loud zooming/high pinch noise, it woke me up
I know the sounds in HI state are normal and I had them before but they never happened with an attached image that actually explains the source or reason of the noise (does that make sense?

So does anyone had this aswell? What about the IH with the door... is there some kind of subconscious msg here? or is it just another image and really the same as all other images one sees in this state?
