Is it beneficial to have a goal??

I have roughly one lucid dream every 2 weeks or so whoch sucks but due to this i realise i dont have goals when lucid rather im just that happy to be lucid that i decide what im going to do when im lucid.
Im wondering if having an actual goal like turning into a bird or visiting famous people would make it more likely to become lucid due to maybe the exitement? Thanx =D

There are many benefits of planning out your lucid adventures! The main one, I would say, is that when you have such a plan, you may dream it out without having to be lucid! What I mean is that the plan itself may serve as a dream incubator. Also, one deterrent of "winging it" is that the conscious thought which would be required to decide what to do can cause the dream to fade or even wake you up completely. This is just speaking from personal experience.

Personally, I get lucid easier when I have a goal. Before I go to bed, I plan out what I'm going to do in my lucid dream that night (i.e. meeting a celebrity, driving an expensive car, flying to another country). It gets me excited and instead of focusing on becoming lucid, I focus on what I'll do when I'm lucid, not if I get lucid. I try to trick my mind into thinking that having a lucid dream is inevitable, so yeah, having a goal works for me. I also spend less time when I become lucid trying to figure out to do, thus wasting less valuable dream time.
