I lucid dreamed for 4 months with MILD but its been a month and now I can't. I'm on med's that knock me out for about 11 hours. Should I try another method
When did you start taking this medication? I assume it's something recent? It's possible that it's the reason for your inability to lucid dream. Don't quote me on this because I'm not entirely sure, but I believe a lot of sleeping pills can mess with REM sleep because it forces you into a deeper state of sleep than you would naturally be in.
Has your recall suffered? If the answer is yes, then I would blame the meds. If the answer is no, then perhaps you should look into trying something new.
I was taking them 4 months ago when I successfully lucid dreamed
also I can recall dreams ok
Okay, well that rules out that possibility then. My suggestion would be to try new things - dry spells come to us all; it's inevitable.
WBTB and WILD could provide more instantaneous results. How much do you know about both methods? The key is to fall asleep with an anchor, if that means anything to you.
Let me know what you think. In any case, make sure your dream journal is consistent and as detailed as you can make it. Look for cues that are specific for you. You never know, you may recognise something from a past dream and produce a lucid dream from it.
Enz, how frequently were you successfully having LDs using the MILD technique before your recent dry spell?
It was Once or twice a week
Maybe you could try working on a new induction method as GravesTC mentioned. I've read that the SSILD technique has quite good success rates.
Click HERE for a SSILD tutorial within the forums. Within that link is another link on the post to the updated version of the tutorial.
I have read that the efficacy of some induction methods can sometimes wear off over time leading to fewer lucids, but I would think that depends on the individual and how they are approaching their situation. I also read that a diminishing frequency of LDs does not occur with SSILD, but I do not know the veracity of that.
And just to clarify, when you wrote "also I can recall dreams ok," do you mean that you are still able to recall non-LDs?
If anyone feels that anything needs to be added or corrected within my reply, please do so!
Ive tried SSILD for 5 nights, I don't go into a dream doing this I just lose concioucness
How long do you try SSILD before you fall asleep when doing it? Also, are you doing this at the beginning of the night, or combining it with WBTB?
I do sight/sound/body for 10 seconds followed by each for 30 seconds three times in a row
I do it after about 5 hours of sleep. I turn off my alarm and then try SSILD
It's possible that you need more time to develop your SSILD technique. I've read that for each technique you should spend at least 4-6 weeks working with them. After each attempt, it could be helpful to write down notes detailing how you felt during the experience and anything that may be relevant to get you closer to achieving your goals.
When I've tried SSILD, I have trouble falling asleep. I only tried it a couple of times, though. I want to work on that one again, but I've been trying to get as much out of MILD as possible.
Another thing to consider is how many hours of sleep you have before you wake yourself up. It is different for each person. For some WBTB works best after 4.5, 5, or 6, etc., hours of sleep. That will have to be worked out through trial and error.
Because of meds I need nicotine patch to be awake enough to do SSILD but the trade off is with the patch I can't get back off to sleep
Try cutting the patch in half. For lucid dreaming in fact, it's recommended to use the weakest patch they make and cut it in half.
