Weird... I was just thinking about this when I first woke up this morning?!
Since I started lucid dreaming during the height of it I can’t really say if it’s affected my dreaming. I don’t get out and about as much as I would like given we’re in lockdown 3 in the UK so I do wonder once all this is over and some normality returns will my dreams become more interesting and varied given I will be doing more and seeing more again. There’s very little for me to RC about given I’m mainly at work and home all the time as well. So I wonder if this will be different when I go more places and see more things that might remind me to RC.
COVID themes pop up in my dreams sometimes but it’s not something that’s on my mind constantly. They usually pop up after reading or watching something before bed on the subject. I heard on the radio recently though that apparently people are experiencing a higher volume of vivid dreams during this pandemic and a “dream expert” said that it’s most likely due to an increase in anxiety about the subject and people having more restless sleep. Could be an interesting study!
Sometimes, I notice I am not wearing a mask.

I also had some Lucid dreams were I had someone who was like Karen type person that prompt me RC too.
I had one dream that seems related, and this was back in early March last year. I was with a girlfriend (unknown to me in physical reality), and she told me that in ten years she would develop the disease COP-19. I knew instinctively that it was a lung-related disease.
This is a wee bit strange for two reasons: 1) normally it takes years before stuff from the physical world makes it into my dreams, and 2) COP-19 was actually an international conference held back in 2013, but it does sound rather close to COVID-19, which name started to appear in the news media around the time of the dream.
Not much. I had one dream back in the spring about accidentally catching COVID. Otherwise... nothing. I think I have low anxiety about it?
Did you have to change your Lucid routine in some way? Like instead of Plugging your nose, you RC when you washed your hands or something like that? I think that some of us also dream of you family members more often than we used too? For me, I would have dreams were I'm back in time type dream.Quote:

I had a weird dream. I had a dream that I was fighting some bug, it was a shape-shifting Alien bug that stung me during the fight. Don't worry, I was helping Hope with fighting this DC. In fact, she would have gotten stung if I didn't get in the way. Everything happened so fast. I felt the sting when it happened then we killed it... Adult members LIKE the alien thing in my dream, like this species Dolichogenidea xenomorph, inject eggs into live caterpillars or even I believe they also do it to other bugs too? Its singer is like a long needle-like injector known as an “ovipositor.” Their offspring then slowly devour their victims from the inside out before bursting out like the creature from John Hurt’s chest in “Alien.” When I did wake up though, my eyes were red with some weird red ring around my eyes. We are dealing with an Alien bug in a way, AKA Covid19... Stay safe everyone!!
I don't think my routine has changed much other than it got me focused on dream stuff more. I do not get much interaction with people and I think my dreams are becoming more solitary, like just me walking around and almost no DCs. Last night it was not real dreams but more the endless loop short anxiety dream snippets that happen sometimes like when you get a new job. It had to do with the vaccine and such but had no real content other than general stuff but it kept repeating despite me being aware what was happening and demanding my mind stop it.
Strangely, my dreams still represent the old world, as though there is no pandemic. No DC has worn a mask yet!

well it finally happened. I had a dream where I dropped my face mask and had to go back for it. I was concerned that people would be mad I was not wearing it.
Oh, I had a funny one last night:
I was living in a commune and someone was being tormented by visions of cruel men wearing masks and he feared for his and our lives. I myself could see what he was seeing so I believed him. Interestingly, these men would rush out from the shadows but once in the light, their mask and evil intents would disappear instantly and they would just walk past. One was simply busy in front of a mirror in a washroom across the hallway, doing no one harm. I thought it would be better to reassure him first before I investigated the haunting so this was my attempt:
"That man, he was wearing a mask... [I realize wearing a mask is normal] That's normal! We all wear masks since the pandemic [I realize none of us in the commune is wearing a mask] Well, we're not wearing masks, but that's just because this is a dream... So let's just ignore the fact that this is a dream and latch on to what's important: we're all supposed to be wearing masks. Nothing special there"
I did have this happen that had something to do with this time.It's kind of both an insect joke and a covid joke. My brain did that... It makes sense.Quote:

Usually not, but there has been a few times masks involved.
I recently had a zombie apocalypse dream that was definitely Covid influenced. Just with the pandemic, around here, people acting like the threat is completely over and all caution has been forgone. In my dream, it was like that, a lul in the infection and it seemed the zombie virus was under control. But then, all of a sudden, it wasn't. People started turning again and it spread faster than ever, lock downs went back into place but it was too late in the second round, the full fledge apocalypse began.
You know, at work, we have gone through the entire pandemic without anyone being sick (Aside from the few that caught mild cases of Covid from family members and had to be out for the required period.) But not a single person caught a regular cold or flu all winter long. But now that the masks are coming off, several people getting bad colds, and going home puking with the flu lol. I'm one of maybe three people at the work place still keeping the mask.
I had something like that in October of 2019. For a while felt bad about this dream. Although, mine seemed more like the black plague/ Zombie.Quote:

I have been having some really odd dreams the last few weeks since returning home from a Labor Day Weekend beach trip with some friends. The dreams are set at the resort where my friends and I stayed, but I think I am 19 or 20 years old in the dreams.
When the dreams start I walking around the pool area at the resort and the beach in front of the resort looking for the friends I went on the Labor Day Beach trip as well as many other beach trips in recent years, but I cannot find them anywhere. I know I am under 21 in these dreams because I am cannot get a drink at the beach bar.
Eventually my younger sister finds me and tells me moms is checking us out of the resort and we need to go now. I tell my sister I am riding home with my friends, but she tells me they have already left and I will need to ride home with she and my mom. My sister looks like I remember her looking when she was around 15 or 16 which also makes me think I am 19 or 20 in the dreams.
I them follow my sister to the hotel lobby where we see our mom who looks the way she did when I was 19-20 years old. She is waiting in a long line to check out. When she sees us, she tells us the car is parked in the lot out front and suggests we go ahead and get in. She then give my sister the keys and she leads me out the front door of the resort and to the parking lot across the street.
When we get to the parking lot, I see my grandfathers old tan 1983 Plymouth Reliant which was my car in high school. It really stands out because all of the other cars in parking lot are modern cars. As we get closer to it, I notice it looks l just like it did when I quit driving it with all of the bumper stickers I put on it. It really looks like an eyesore compared to all of the other newer cars parked in the lot.
My sister then uses the keys to unlock the front passenger side door and stands off to the side. I tell her she can sit up front that I am fine in the back seat but she rolls her eyes and tells me that we are both going to have to ride up front since the back seat is full of stuff and that I am riding in the middle since I wasn’t supposed to be riding with them.
I look into the back seat and notice it is full of things like beach chairs; floats; and surf boards and that there is no way I can clear any space back there. I reluctantly sit down in the front tan vinyl bench seat and then fasten the tan lap belt around my waist. My sister then tells me she is taking the keys back to mom and closes the passenger side door and walks back to the resort lobby.
While I wait in the car for my mother and sister to come out, I see a bunch of people walking on the sidewalk in front of the car and it feels like everyone is staring at it. I cannot figure out if it is because the reliant is out of place in the parking lot or if people are tying to figure out why I am in the car by myself sitting in the front middle seat.
After I have been in the car a couple of minutes, my sister is walking toward the car and then sitting down on the tan vinyl passenger seat to my right and then closes her door and fastens the tan shoulder belt. She tells me the line has barely moved so we will be waiting for mom for a while longer.
As me and my sister sit in the reliant and wait, crowds of people continue to walk in front of us and it feels like everyone is staring at the car and me and my sister waiting in it. I am again trying to figure out if it is because the car looks out of place or if it is because they think it is odd me and my sister are both riding out front and I am in the middle when I am much taller. While we continue to wait in the car for our mom, my sister does things like put her tan wedge sandals on the tan glove box; put her head on my shoulder; and try to put her left arm around me. I know she is doing all of these things to try to get on my nerves. As me and my sister continue to wait in the car I cannot figure out if it is worse if people notice that the back seat is full of stuff and think we are hoarders or if they do not notice and try to figure out why me and my sister are both riding up front.
Eventually, I finally see mom walking towards the reliant with some bags in her hand. When she get to the reliant, she first opens the trunk and puts the bags in there and then walks around to the driver side and unlocks the driver side door. As she is doing this, I continue to feel like everyone is staring at us and know they all know that my mother is the driver and I am a male riding between two females.
When my mom sits down in the tan vinyl driver seat to my left, I feel squished between she and my sister and know I will have to deal with riding between for at least 5-6 hours. I am not looking forward to it as mom checks all the mirrors while people continue to walk by.
When mom has everything adjusted, she reaches to turn the key but the engine doesn’t start-up and after each crank there is the annoying buzzing sound and dash illuminated with red lights. My mother keeps pumping the accelerator and turning the key, but each crank always ends with the red lights and buzzing sound. As my mother keeps trying to start the car, I notice more people in the parking lot and on the front porch of the resort are noticing the car is not starting are looking at us. I cannot decide if it is more embarrassing that they are seeing me riding between my mom and younger sister or that the car is not starting up.
Normally during the dreams, my mom gets out several time to look under the hood and me and my sister stay bucked in the car while she does this. In some dreams, mom goes back to the hotel or to an auto store across the street trying to get stuff to fix the car but nothing ever works. When the dream ends, I am always still buckled to the middle seat of the reliant with my mom to my left in the driver seat trying to get it started and my sister to my right in the passenger seat.
When I think on why I am having these dreams, I think it is related to stress and anxiety I am feeling related to the COVID Pandemic and the worsening Delta Variant Situation in my community.
I know that the Labor Day Beach Trip with my friends was a time when I was able to have some fun because the beach we visited does not have any COVID restrictions or mandates. For 5 days and 4 nights, we were able to live life like it was 2019. Once I got back home from the beach, I returned to a situation where cases of the Delta Variant are rising and mandates and restrictions are starting to be implemented to try to slow the spread.
I think I have the same negative feelings towards the COVID mandates in my community that I had when I was 19-21 years old and my mom wanted to exert control over me and I wanted to be an adult. I know this was a time in my life when I didn’t want to have anything to do with my mom and younger sister.
I expect these dreams are incorporating the themes of the freedom I feel on a beach trip with friends with the feelings of control I feel due to COVID mandates/restrictions and I felt at that time of my life with my mother and sister.
Your expectation and conclusion regarding the nature of this specific set of dreams sounds plausible.
I have some curiosities; for one thing, was your younger self also as self-conscious as this dream self, about things like people staring/looking in? In addition, do you feel it's possible that this may relate in some way to how people see you (and therefore with self-consciousness), either while you're enjoying yourself freely or while you're in a state of limbo (like Covid is, a bit)?
I have always been and still am someone is very self-conscious about how other people see me. At the time in my life when this dream took place, it did not take much for my mom to embarrass me because we were in a power struggle where I wanted to be seen as an adult and she still wanted me to be her child.
At that time in my life, I would have been thoroughly embarrassed if my mother and sister had just showed-up while I was on a trip with my friends. If I had been forced to ride in the middle of the front seat between them in an old car, I am sure I would have though everyone who looked our way was staring at me because I was in the middle and my younger shorter sister was by the window.
As an adult, I would be fine with my mom or sister meeting and interacting with my friends and would not have any feelings of embarrassment about it like I did at that time. Also if me and my sister had to ride in a truck with my mom at this time in my life I would be fine with me and my sister taking turns riding by the window and would not have any feelings of embarrassment if anyone saw me riding between them in the middle seat.
While I am still very self-conscious as an adult, I believe that I am now more rational about things that embarrass me than I was when I was a teenager and young adult.
Still having dreams about masks dreams for covid.
I have really missed not being able to do nose-pinch reality checks as often. I didn't think much about touching my nose before.
