Any Tips for Catching Natural Awakenings?

As the title suggests, I need a bit of help catching awakenings. I know the general gist is that you need to set an intention to wake up, but is there anything else I can do? I want to get the best Deilds I can without using an alarm.

To be more specific, we wake up several times a night; we're usually just not aware during them so we forget about them. I want to be aware during these moments so I can wake up without moving. It's really useful for DEILDs so you can get into one in less than 10 seconds. I've done it about twice, but I'd like to get it more consistently. I am getting on my meditation grind again, so hopefully that will be helpful. Meditation is an activity that trains awareness, so it makes sense that it'd prove useful in becoming more aware during the night.

Intention can sometimes be enough. Go to bed with a clear mission, a firm goal. Clear your mind of all your daytime worries before sleep in any way you can. I find reading about lucid dreaming before bed helps but some do meditation and various other things. I then repeat my goal a few times to myself. “I will notice when I naturally awake” (I do this for recall but it works the same). Then fall asleep but do so not with a desire to get a good nights sleep but to be ready and prepared for those natural awakenings. It may take a few days but it’s certainly achievable. The trickiest part is catching the awakening early enough to attempt a DEILD. This is something I’m still trying to get better at.

I got some great advice about DEILDs from fellow members in this thread if you’re interested.

If you are interested with natural awakenings, setting an alarm might just be what does the trick for you. ”But hold on, That's not natural!” you are right, it isn't; Yet =P

By using alarms and forging the intention & routine of waking up in the middle of the night you will notice that after some time your body will automatically wake you up at said times. It's useful, and honestly doesn't take so long. I find myself frequently waking up minutes before my many WBTB alarms, and I have only been using them at these times for a few weeks! Hope this helps.

This sounds interesting, but wouldn't you just be up for a while? It sounds like doing this with that particular point that you set with an alarm would wake your body like it's time to get up, not like a rem cycle has just ended. The two are different, in that the "Time to wake up" awakening will keep you awake for a long time, which defeats the whole purpose of catching natural awakenings to begin with; at least for me. I want to be able to easily fall asleep again, like 10 - 20 seconds easy. Does this technique you describe allow for such expediency?

This doesn't always work for me but I set an alarm with no sound to wake me up at time of WBTB and the intention wakes me up before the alarm even rings . setting an intention normally doesn't work for me .
