Can Awareness become a continuous RC?

Through the discussions I have had with Wee Yak, Something striking came to mind.

I have been reading many books on awareness. Not just awareness of your surroundings but all facets of awareness, human nature, thought and emotions and the relative nature of how things work.
Most all of my lucid dreams are now facilitated through awareness of my dream scene. Which I believe to be a result of my new outlook of awareness outside the dream scene
Almost a constant reality check. However my dreams have become ever so real.

Any have any comments or a similar situation I would love to hear about it!

I heard of this one guy who was like some fitghing dude and he was always aware of his surrodings and stuff like everytime he walks somewhere new he whould look for anything unusal and it became a habit, then he tried to steal something yadda yadda yadda and i think he wont be out for 2 years or so lol, anyways wonder if he had lucid dreams all the time?

A lot of my LDs are caused simply by awareness. Not many are a product of conventional RCs.

i know what you're saying.

personally, i've only had a handful of LD's, so i can't say how pure awareness affects them.

however, i have found that the more i strive for lucidity in my dreams, the more 'real', and yet 'dreamlike' waking life itself becomes (if that makes any sense :D )

like last night, i was walking, and i asked myself if i was dreaming, which i wasn't. but nonetheless, i experienced something akin to what many say happens the first time they have a lucid dream.

everything became etheric and beautiful, yet clear. the moonlight off of puddles, trees rising into the air, roots clingling to the earth....everything.

i find it happening more and more often. i am starting to suspect maintaining such a state of awareness as much as possible will do more to help me attain lucidity in dreams than sporadic reality checks.

This is true for some people. But how high of a level of awareness can we reach at any given poin? Or even more profound, sustain that level.

Hmmm yes I guess once masterd it would be the best way of getting aware when you are dreaming.. In dreams there is something different, a feeling. If you could train yourself to notice you are having that feeling or Not having the feeling of 'relatity'/awereness, you could make every dream a LD. ^___^

But maybe you would still need something to make you think: hey, I'am dreaming. It can't be on your mind constantly. That would drive you nuts =)

whenever i enter any altered state of consciousness, i tell myself i am in a dream

this increases my awareness dramatically, imagine it like this, the brain picks out only the fraction of information it needs to see reality and function therein, if its a dream, your consciousness can observer and record it (hell if i know why) and for me at least i become almost super aware, i can feel all the objects around me, like my mind took a back seat to my conscoiusness

i dont care what you think, but i will say it does increase your awareness when one does that, i just have not had the time recently to do it often enough to increase my awareness daily to become lucid (i think it will help if i can do it on an almost daily basis, but who knows)

I believe that for most people this 'general awareness' is most definitely the most effective way of becoming lucid :) At least, when it comes down to passive ways of becoming lucid (as opposed to more active, like WILD)

It takes some more effort to really come close to 'mastering' this way, but it would definitely be worth it :D Waaay more effective than normal RCs, which often are pretty mindless (with mindless I don't mean stupid, but they are performed quickly and without really thinking about it).

If you really lived that way, you would become one big walking RC 8) And no it wouldn't get stressful because it would become very natural. And I'm sure it would have it's benifits in other areas of life, aswell :)

I become lucid this way quite frequently, and it's really the only thing besides WILD that I find really effective in the long run. ;) But everybody is different, but it's certainly going to help you along the path to lucidity! :D

Well, if you remember, my goal was to build constant awareness in order to become lucid in dreams all the time.

Unfortunately, constant awareness is something extremely tough to achieve.
This mostly being due to concentration needed for certain tasks.

Now, with practice, one can achieve this state parallel to other actions, however, training constant awareness takes away much concentration on other things because if one allows other things to take full concentration from one's self then that is already not constant awareness.

Thus, I've yet to achieve such a state of constant awareness. I've stopped my training on it for a small while while I learn some lesser skills such as strengthening my will power, concentration ability and meditation skills.
