Visualization... maybe?

I am starting to have pretty good dream recall, remembering at least a dream a night(although most of my dreams tend to mesh together into one long messed up dream), and I've been able discern several "dream signs", at least I think so, and yet my dreams still seem to be so... I'm not sure how to describe it, except for... distant, or fuzzy, or unreal. I'm not sure if this is just because my mental visualization is bad, or what. I've practiced some visualization techniques outlined in Dr. LaBerge's book, and yet they seem to do nothing. I can't seem to dream in a "realistic" manner. I've also considered getting some sleep aids, like melatonin or something. I doubt if it will help though. Any ideas anyone?

This may sound weird to you, but bear with me. If you burn a lavender-scented candle before you go to bed it will help relax you and clarify your mind. Also, if you have one, keep an amethyst or a clear crystal by your head when you sleep; under your pillow, on your headboard, nightstand or whatever. That will help as well.

As far as sleep aids are concerned, I suppose it's different for everyone. When I was on some heavy meds after getting out of the hospital two weeks ago, I was knocked out cold for like four days straight. I don't remember any of my dreams (if I dreamed at all) during that time, which is strange. I've taken sleeping pills on occasion but those didn't seem to affect my dreaming at all. So I guess it depends on the person.

Oh, another strange question: Do you wear glasses or contacts? You mentioned distance and fuzziness and I was wondering if you meant visually or generally. I've had dreams where my sight is extremely fuzzy, as though I'm not wearing my contacts. Is that what you meant? Or was it more of a general sense of ... unreality (is that a word?).

yes, I have heard that the scent of lavender can help you calm down...

I agree with paperdoll. I never could figure out how using gems or minerals would do much of anything. Using different herbs can relax you for sure though.

I'll have to try that, both. I mean, hey, regardless of what all these people say or think, an amethyst or crystal by the head sure isn't going to hurt me, and it might just help, so I appreciate the input, but, I was just curious, where does that idea come from(religion, mythology, etc.)?

I'm not sure if it is a relaxation issue, but I will give it a try any ways.

Also, as for glasses/contacts, I do not wear any, and as far as I know, I have 20/20 vision. The fuzzines and unreality(?) of it all seems to stem from my inability to visualize things in my mind. I can't say I know how others visualize in their minds, for I only have my own perspective, however I have NEVER had a dream that I can remember as being as vivid as reality, nor can I visualize things in my mind as though they were real. I see only darkness when I mentally envision things while I'm awake, yet the image of it is there, but only as a mental projection with no real shape or image, simply ties to knowledge of what the object is. Does that make sense? When dreaming, it is similar, possibly a slight bit more vivid, but not really. It's not like images, it's not like seeing. Maybe I just don't understand the difference, I'm not sure, but it's been driving me nuts for a bit now. I'm sorry if this description is inadequate, I just seem to be inable to describe properly, I will think on it and try and define it better.

To answer your question i would meditate more often. Sounds like you are uncomfortable with dreaming and just need to open up a little more. If you dont take time during the day to meditate start. Meditation will help your visualization, and anwareness and you will start to recall more vivid dreams and know when your dreaming more often. Once you feel comfortable with meditation do it at strange times like in a room full of people just open your mind and leave where you are but be with yourself. I think you will find it helps.

Than you for being so open-minded about the stone thing. I know it must sound really strange to someone who's never had any experience with it before (like, 90% of the world, I think). It's not a religous thing at all. A lot of cultures believe that the earth has its own sort of power. Certain stones give off certain viberations and they've learned how to recognize and utilize them. I've been working with stones since I was little and it's very similar to herbology, although I wouldn't put a rock in my tea or anything. =P

I also agree with Curios, on both the herbology and meditation. A lot of people may be skeptics, but all of these things can really work wonders.

Most people think crystal storage devices are Si-Fi, not really, they are already being used =) Ibm is already working with quartz and finding it can stor vast amounts of info, but it needs to be refreshed with power constantly, lots of bugs still.

So whats this have to do with putting a not just rocks, a crystal next to your head? Well you emit energy in the form of heat, Biomagnetic energy a very small electrical signal and also those resonant brain waves.

Me being the proponent for light love crystals one can do some fun things with them and light.

Wow thats cool stuff but i still dont see how this will have any results. Seems way complicated and almost impossible to figure out what the outcome of each crystal would be. Could easily create a placebo effect.

I agree curios, that the possibility of it creating a placebo effect is there, however, that might not be a bad thing, as long as it helps. I'm pretty desparate to understand my dreams at this point, and I'm just hoping to get some sort of bearing on how to help myself become lucid. I'll try anything, in other words :lol: .

As for finding out what rocks do what... well thats been figured out =) you just need to find the right books. Ancient people all over the earth have used stones in rituals, amulets jewelry, all of them objects of power.
I duno about them being placeebos, I was in a newage store, I only go in for all the shiney stuff... I guess my spirit form being a dragon makes sense.... I have a pile of rocks and coins in the corner of my room, I polished the coins too... *beams* mmm shineys....

Well anyways I picked up a selenite point about 5 inches long and bout 1 inch in diameter...

Well, when i picked it up whooollleee Crap, I felt a buzz go through my hand arm and then to my spine, where it just seemed to resonate, it felt really good, felt like it had alota power to it,
So one of the people that worked there came over and said "I see you found some Selenite, its a very high energy crystal and has healing properties regarding the spinal column and can clear the root chakra.

I was like, wow, I can really feel it in my back, she just smiled and walked away, I walked around the store with it in my hand and it got hot hehe although that coulda just been me 8) Course I purchased

You may find some different uses for rocks and you may find info that differs from source to source most of it is in agreement but everyone is different so it can effect others differntly, sometimes caffein puts me to sleep =)
