patience...it is known that wanting to Lucid Dream and trying Too Hard will pretty much lessen your chances of Lucid Dreaming...take your time...it will happen
For most people, there isn't much form of 'being close to lucidity' it'll just hit you one night, and you'll have a LD. Or give a WILD a go. just realize that it may take time, or you could be lucky and have one tonight, you never know.
Lol, i know what ur talkin bout man, iv been tryin everynight sense march,1.
After the first few days you dont wake up completly pissed off lol. I have realized that it comes in time...and eventually ill get one.
it takes time young jedi..use the force (of positive thinking) :) good wavelenth shyne..hope it your lucid arrives sooner rather than later.
As the others have said, be patient. LDing isn't something that just comes naturally to everyone. I know it didn't to me.....Just keep trying, and don't overwork your brain. It will become exhausted and won't respond to your input regarding dreams if you overstimulate it in this area. Keep at it, and you will soon be a regular LDer:).
Lucid Dreaming is an invasion into the Territory of our Dream Self. To turn over Consciousness to our Waking Self within a Dream is to rob our Dream Self of his usual Domain. Within Lucid Dreams I have consciously accessed my Dream Self's Memory, and it is amazing. The Dream Self is Dreaming ALL the Time. To the Dream Self, there is a coherent and unified Dream World. It seems fragmented to our Waking Selves that can only bring back certain Dream Fragments into Waking Consciousness, but if you are ever able to turn on your Dream Memory within a Dream...
What I did was I asked myself "When was the last time I came to this intersection", and it brought to my memory not only a great many times in dreams that I was at that same Dream Scene, but it opened up my awareness of the entire locale for miles around, and those memories too.
Well, what does this have to do with Lucid Dreaming? Well, it must be something of a Political Process within one's own Mind. Arrangements need to be made. How much do you want to work with the Dream Self, or do you wish to completely take over and end the Life of your Dream Self. many Lucid Dreamers report a great many difficulties with Lucid Dreaming, and part of their problem may be that there are these unresolved conflicts between the Waking Self and the bespoiled and victimized Dream Self.
Now, my Philosophy is that occassional and limited episodes of Lucid Dreaming help to bring Conscious Insights to the Dream Self -- that it helps integrate the Two Selves. Seen in that purview, the Dream Self can be enticed to surrender itself for a moment here and a moment there, as it can understand that some benefit will accrue. Instead of robbing the Dream Self and invading its Territory, it is as though I come with gifts. Think of it in the same way as we would appreciate a gift of Subconscious Dream Content -- a new Song or a Poem, or a Philosophical Insight. So there elements of the Conscious Mind which the Dream Self would enjoy and value.
If you have not noticed, at the beginning of Dream Work the Dream Self is found to be somewhat primitive and unimproved. This is where the Lucid Dream can help. The Waking Persona can come into the Dream and change attitudes, directions, motivations. Where the Dream Self may have been stuck in the rut of some lower astral dream world, the Waking Persona in a Lucid Dream Consciousness, can make the decision to go to new and higher realms.
But often Lucid Dreamers, the Waking Personas want to go into their Dreams with the intent of Slumming... with the intent of enjoying violence and sex with no anticipated expectation of bad consequences. Well, duh. Remember what I said about the Dream Self's Memory. What happens when the Lucid Dreamer comes into a Dream, for five minutes, screwing and killing all the other Dream Characters, and then wakes up and is gone, leaving the Dream Self to clean up the mess. Well, is there really any wonder that so many Lucid Dreamers meet with mental resistence to Lucid Dreaming.
You must come to some working relationship with your Higher Mind and your Dream Self, so that your Plans with Lucid Dreaming are calculated to benefit all aspects at once.
I'd say you'll have a LD soon enough, just remember the things that are good and bad for lucid dreaming:
Good:
Patience, imagination, self-confidence, dream journal, reality checks, alarms in the middle of the night (to write down your dreams), enough sleep, positive mind...
Bad:
Stress, frustration, not believing that it'll work, drugs (though alcohol sometimes has a positive effect on dreaming/recall)
Hell, I haven't had a decent LD since december but I'm not sad or frustrated about it because I know that the next one will soon come.
Just believe in yourself and be glad about the smallest progress you've made. Award yourself somehow when you remember a dream... And absolutely write it down.
i'm not sure why, but that made a lot of sense to meQuote:

Thanks a bunch guys. I had a rather interesting dreamin last night, so I do believe I am getting there, if slowly. I just keep thinking to myself that once I do get, "You'll be glad you did!". Kinda like what they promise on all of those crappy Infomertials. :P
*Much needed zeal boost* Thanks! :D
I believe that the saying is Rome wasn't built in a day.
I thought it was "When in Rome, let them eat cake!" ... okay, nevermind :) I hope at least one other person might get that joke.Quote:

But seriously, take these guys' advice. Also, look for any signs of improvement. If you notice yourself talking about lucid dreaming while you're dreaming or if you ever think "This is wierd" in your dream or do anything related to LDing, take it as progress! It took me three weeks before my first LD, and then another week for my second, but each person is different. Be confident that you will have one tonight! If not, be confident you will have one tomorrow night! It'll happen.
