was this almost an accidental WILD...?

Last night I made my very first attempt at MILD. I woke up after about six hours of sleep, stayed up long enough to be pretty much fully awake and then went back to bed. I imagined myself in a particular dreamscape which occurs a lot in my dreams and imagined becoming lucid in the dream. I kept repeating 'I am dreaming, I am dreaming' in my head.

As I began to drift off to sleep, the imagery kept changing in my mind and I had to keep reminding myself of the dreamscape. Every time I did this it woke me up a bit. However, the repetition of 'I am dreaming' didn't take much effort to keep up, in fact it seemed almost like self hypnosis. I started to drift off and got an extremely heavy feeling in my body.

At this point I blacked out into sleep, and then, very shortly afterwards, suddenly became conscious again (but not awake). I felt vibrations in my body and woke up immediately (I should point out that I'm familar with the sensations of sleep paralysis, having experienced it on a regular basis for many years. My instinctive reaction to such such sensations is to panic and try to wake up as quickly as possible).

I started again with imagining the dreamscape and telling myself I was dreaming, and again I drifted off into sleep. I woke up sometime later in full-blown SP and again woke myself up as quickly as possible. Fell asleep again and sadly didn't experience any LDs. : (

Anyway, I'm just wondering if I was actually doing MILD properly. I'm not sure what when wrong. I seemed to remain conscious during the falling-asleep process for much longer than usual, which makes me wonder if I was somehow accidentally doing WILD. Or perhaps I just became conscious too soon (i.e., during SP and before I'd actually started to dream). Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.
