Nap times?
Hi everyone, i just have a question i need to get cleared up. I normally dont nap but i sleep in school alot....I thought u could only LD if ur sleeping in REM...or if u wakeup right b4 or during REM....and if u stay up for like a hour or less (WBTB) then go back to sleep...But what if you slept like 6.5hours...And you was in REM when you woke up...could you stay awake for like 4hours then go back to sleep and still be in that stage? Also...or are you jus in that stage for all naps? Like could you wake up after say.. 7hours of sleep in the middle of stage one or w/e (anytime cept REM) And then like 1hour later nap and be in REM or like 4hours laternap...? Im just not sure about this...The whole timing thing is kinda anoying...I have woken up directly from one dream and it was 6hours 47minutes into dream...and my alarm once woke me up while i was dreaming and it was 5hours 40minutes into sleep...And i set my alarm off after 5.5 6 and 6.5hrs sleep...So i really ahve no idea when im in REM it like changes...i always remmeber dreams like 4minutes after i wakeup. -->iv also seen all the REM charts...so thats not going to help. Do any of you have a certain time that u wakeurself up to recall everynight? I need a alarm cuz w/o one ill sleep right thru most likily. i have had a pretty cool DILD...but i cant use MILD bcuz i dont wakeup right after the dream (cant get timing right w/ alarm) And i cant wake myself up naturally..this leaves me w/ DILD..And WILD-ing no MILD wich is supposed to be really good :(

I'll tell you something: When you have a nap your REM cycles are very random. Once I had slept normally in the night... or less... I think it was like 6 hours. Then in the evening I was very tired so I took a one-hour nap from 6 to 7 PM. I had one of my best lucid dreams then so who knows... That means I definitely had a REM cycle in that hour.
But thinking more accurately about it... it may have been rem rebound because my sleep was very unstable back then... I didn't sleep much and I went to bed at very weird times.
I like naps because I usually have dreams in them, even if they are short. That's why I have a nap whenever I'm sleepy enough, you should try it, too!

I think you can LD outside of REM, but it's a lot harder and more fleeting.
