Still no success...
I have been trying to LD for a good half a year or so. I have tried a wide range of techniques, and some seem to work just to the point where it feels like I am about to attain lucidity, and then everything starts to decline again. These "spikes" have been going off and on monthly. It seems when I am really motivated, I get so close, and then everything stops after a few nights. What am I doing wrong? Am I not motivated enough? Am I expecting results too fast?
I'm extremely frustrated with myself...

I too can relate. I have spent several months trying to perfect LD'ing.
The first WILD I ever did is the only one that worked, and I've tried WILD many times with results but no LD's. I've started doing WBTB, with initially great results, and started journaling again.
When I first joined I had the best dreams, every night, and I remembered them. Then I have been in this spell, I dream and they are good, but I often don't remember, and my WBTB haven't been working.
I spent an hour whilst driving home just repeating "I am dreaming, its all a dream, do a reality check 1-2-3, repeat" etc, and that evening I had two LD's.
The complaint I have about WBTB is that sometimes its the most uncomfortable thing imaginable for my mind, just laying there in the weirdest state of consciousness.

Sorry you've been having difficulties. It's very frustrating when you've tried several techniques and get little results. Don't give up hope just yet, though.
What techniques seem to work best for you? Which ones do you think get you closest to lucidity? Maybe use that info to concentrate on that particular technique, and try to tweak it a little and see if you get anything different.
Or maybe you just need a break. Sometimes you can try TOO hard, which can cause somewhat of a "block" with these things. Relax, but still keep your dream journal going.
Keep us updated, and good luck! :)
