Heh I have exactly the same thing. I can get the spinning and the tingling etc. now, whereever I try, but then I just kinda, fall outta it, and im more wide-awake than I was when trying to get to sleep! :/ |

Ever since I had the feeling that I was spinning round quickly whilst trying to WILD (documented here), I've been able to replicate it several times whilst falling asleep. The problem is that I can't seem to get past a certain point, i'm spinning around, then I become aware of my breathing and start breathing conciously, and the spinning begins to fade. |

Hmm, tried again last night to the same result - spinning, but the feeling fading again. I continued to sit there on my back for as long as possible, but after about an hour, I had the powerful desire to roll over in bed. In the end I gave in and rolled over and went to sleep. It was mentioned in another thread about once in SP, you could try 'rolling over' to go lucid, but I wasn't in SP yet, so I actually rolled over. I wonder if the feeling of wanting to roll over suggests i'm close to SP? |

WILD is a very slippery thing. if you have too much success (i.e. the tingling and spinning) it can lead to a lot of difficulty. you can't let your mind take an active role at all, that is, you have to be aware of the feelings you're having but just leave it at that. don't analyze the feeling, don't follow the sensation anywhere in your body. once you've noticed the spinning, try to relax your attention completely (but don't force your attention away!). you have to let your body lead you into SP and any interference by your mind will generally force you to start over from the beginning. for me, i get a kind of tingling and pressure in my limbs immediately before SP--so it sounds like a similar kind of thing. as for the breathing problems...thats something i experience from time to time. it's tough to overcome, but like the rest of the process it's a matter of very gently moving your concentration onto something else. hypnagogic imagery works like a charm in this regard (for me): as soon as i notice that i'm consciously controlling my breathing i try to focus completely on watching whats happening behind my eyelids...you've got to be careful though, because too much attention will result in falling asleep very easily. |
