Good news is , I'm getting lucid 1 or 2 times a week now. Bad news, as soon as I become lucid I awaken. I dont even have time to do a reality check. This and the fact my dreams wake me up all night makes me question wether this is all worth it.

Hey mike, good to see that you're making progress. Now you just have to learn how to stabilize the dream to avoid waking up right away.
Are you attempting to do anything when you become lucid, or do you not even have a chance to try anything before you wake up? If you have a chance to do anything before you wake up, don't try anything fancy. Just stop whatever you're doing and take a deep breath. Then look around, especially at your hands or your feet. Touch something, like the ground or a wall. If you're still asleep, try tasting something. Immersing all your senses in the dream will usually help to stabilize and prolong it.
When you wake up, are you wide awake, or still sleepy? If you're still sleepy, you can try just lying still and drifting back into the dream -- that works for me fairly often.
